I finally got my R1S delivery estimate yesterday (ordered in Nov'21). Here is my configuration... those of you who have already taken delivery, what would you add/remove/change from this based on your experience:

Get a pro shop to do the PPF. Don't let the factory put it on.

huh really? are people having a bad experience with it? I've never done PPF before, price seemed reasonable. I guess you get what you pay for?

The ones that have showed the work from the factory PPF on this forum just hasn't look very good. Plus most of the PPF that has been put on the gear tunnel doors and bottom of front fenders on most trucks starts to lift at the edges and gets dirt under there. My advice is just do a partial front from a reputable local shop near you for like $1200.

That was my exact configuration until I found one in the shop with 22s.

Looking back, I might've opted for ocean coast since the biggest problem with keeping the interior "clean" has been sunscreen rubbing off on the dark vegan leather -- it's easy to notice. Then again, maybe that means that the black mountain is doing a good job hiding dirt.

i love the ocean coast, but i had a light interior in my Accord and with my 4 kids it was a nightmare to keep clean... the black interior in my tahoe seems to hide the kid dirt a bit better... havn't had issues with sunscreen with it.

I am removing the PPF, but I am moving from NC to MA this winter, is it worth going with the 20" wheels and 3xsnowflake tires instead of the road wheels?

I would remove the PPF. I had it in my order just for the simplicity of already having it done when I took delivery, but then Rivian ended up with a huge backlog of PPF installs and my truck sat there waiting for 3 months until Rivian actually removed it from my order. I took delivery 3 weeks after I got that email saying it had been removed.

You can find a local shop to do better work for similar cost and it will probably have a better warranty than Rivian's PPF.

ALSO, what charger is everyone using? Is the Rivian charger worth messing with or is there something better?

If you're not planning on having 2 sets of tires, I'd definitely go with 20s. I have 22s now, which has more tire options than 21s, but I'm looking into whether I should get 20s for the winter.

I really like the Rivian charger for $500 -- but it's mostly an aesthetic thing.

Me personally? I'd take off the underbody shield (it's 300 pounds of dead weight if you're not going off-roading), skip the PPF as others have mentioned (delays, also on mine they got pollen under the PPF on the gear tunnel door), and go with different wheels. Too many threads about people not being able to get 21" wheels.

Personally I like the Rivian wall charger (especially since you've got the lower price) but if you're a multi-EV home you might want something more generic. Don't forget to contact your local electric company to ask about any available discounts.

Enjoy your new truck!

300 lbs!?! WTH is it made of tungstencowhide?

ok, so I’m dumping the PPF, changing to 20’s (I like the beefier rubber look anyway) and keeping the charger.

I’m undecided on the underbody protection… are people still tearing up their underbody going through water? Will the underbody protection help with that?

What he said. I had 21" on order and changed to 20" because of some of the posts here. One poor man with a flat got stuck in the middle of nowhere because they couldn't find a 21" replacement. I also had the Rivian charger but went with the Emporia charger. It supposedly works well with solar which is what I have.
