2026 R1S Dual Large performance, 2024 Mach E GT performance
I've been waiting for a few years now and every time something would happen and it just never came to fruition. Finally picked up my 2026 R1S Dual Large with performance, road trip, and sound+vision packages. Picked it up this morning in Malvern, which is about 40 minutes from my home. I leased this one, just to see if I'll like the ecosystem and I couldn't pass up the lease deal they are currently offering. We currently have a Mach E that my wife drives and planning on replacing that with a R2 next year.

Ok, some observations after driving it a lot today.
I was worried about the sound system from everyone's review on here and other sites. Mine sounds really good, I would argue it sounds as good as my 2022 Model Y did. But I'm coming from the Mach E and premium sound system Ford Lightning and both of those are complete junk.

I did have an issue when I first picked it up, I was listening to Apple music, and it stopped. I tried switching to other steamers like Tidal but all said No Internet. I did a soft reboot when I got to my wife's work and everything seem to go back to normal.

When I picked it up, it was already pending the install of 2026.03. So, I brought it home and connected to wifi and the update went smooth. Phone as a key has worked flawlessly *knock on wood*

I can't for the life of me get my garage door to work with it. I have an older LiftMaster with IQ. I put it in learn mode and on the R1S screen tell it to send the 3 signals. The first signal causes the light on the opener to click off then back on, so I thought it was working but by the time it gets to the 3rd signal it doesn't do anything.

Fit and finish are pretty good. My rear driver's side door isn't aligned completely but not enough to really care about. If I have other issues which hopefully I won't I'll get them to look at it then. The stealth PPF installer did an amazing job. I had stealth PPF installed on my model Y and the installer absolutely did not know what he was doing compared to the installation on the Rivian.

The only really odd thing is a slight boom from what sounds like the rear suspension when going across things like bridge expansion joints. I bought a cheapy cargo cover from Amazon so now I'm second guessing on if I should spend the $250 to get the Rivian one. I remember my Model Y having that same boomy sound when the cargo cover was missing. Not sure if it's the same type of issue or not.

Some garage's require a 2-way handshake instead of simply adding a rolling code to your vehicle. Check your garage door opener manual. There's likely a 'learn' button or sequence you need to initiate with the LiftMaster simultaneously. It's annoying (and helps if you have a second hand to do that while you're in the vehicle), but should get you functional.

I don't have much to offer for the rest of your notes. My wife has a Gen1 R1S, and I have a Gen1 R1T, and these vehicles all tend to have their own personalities! The only one that gives me any pause is your report of the loud suspension noise. Suspension noise IS normal in these vehicles, but not 'loud booming' noises, for sure. If it persists, it might be worth reaching out to Service.

Otherwise, sounds like you're enjoying your vehicle, which is great!

Thanks Thor. I found another post from a few years ago that said you have to hit the learn button each time you send the signal. I was just hitting it once then the first signal turned the light off then back on. Then I just continued with the next signal and then the 3rd. So I'll try hitting the learn button before each one.

The boom isn't really loud, just different from the front sound when going over the road imperfection. And only really makes the noise if both wheels hit the imperfection/expansion joint at the same time. But I'll keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.

Youi'll love your new ride. Take out your after-market cargo cover and drive around and see if you continue to hear the "thump" when you hit bumps...It could be as simple as it's not sitting cleanly and each bump causes it to make a noise.

Thank you, it's definitely louder with it out. It dampens the sound a little with it in.

Absolutely loving it. Finding excuses to go to the grocery store, or cvs, or wherever and taking the extremely long way of getting there.

Congrats! I was there today and the parking lot was full, full, full. They said it’s a lot new deliveries.

Great color combo! That booming sound, I noticed something similar going from my T to an S. I chalked it up as a combo of 22” tires, open cabin and otherwise quiet vehicle where you hear everything an ICE would hide. Possibly “normal” I’d say.

Thanks, yeah once I put the cheapy cargo cover in, it muted it some. Wondering if the $250 one from Rivian is any better?
