Front windshield low quality (cracks easily)

Rivian has had an ongoing issue where the wipers will intermittently wipe once. I have seen people complain about it, but thought it was no big deal. For those with plastic protection film, it might be.
Also, when I use the windshield washer, the wipers start wiping before the windshield is wet. This would be an issue if the protection film is easily damaged.

Yeah it’s an issue when you have the auto wipe setting on. I think all auto wipes do that. Our XC90 did the same thing. On both our R1T and Volvo it seemed to trigger if the windshield had light dust and was well lit, or hit up with direct sunlight when getting back in the car to drive. Not sure how to avoid that other than turning it off when it’s not been raining for a few days or not expected to rain.

Dry wiping wears on windshields faster than when wet and leads to streak marks over time.

My turn.

A logging truck on local highway kicked up a rock this morning. An hour after I took this photo, there's a crack half way across the windshield.

I got a similar chip as that about a month ago and I was able to get it sealed 2 days later. It hadn’t spread. While at the glass place I noticed they had free windshield patches to keep a fresh chip clean. They said it helps them to be able to better seal it if it’s patched to keep stuff from infiltrating the pane. I don’t imagine it would have helped prevent the glass from splitting in your case as that’s just a function of tension in the glass finally getting a release point from the chip.

We have a chip on the leading edge of our roof glass and didn’t realise it until I noticed a crack when looking up out of the top glass. That’s when I inspected it from above and noticed the chip. The crack was 4“ long. That was 5 months ago. Now there are countless more cracks and one running clear across left to right. I guess it’s time to submit a claim for a new one.

Not an issue, a feature. This is a calibration requirement.
