I have a Linear garage door with rolling codes. It took me a while to get it to work. I finally tried holding the remote button down for about 5 seconds next to the mirror before pressing the
Pair button on the screen. After two or three failed attempts, it finally worked. Pressing Pair and then the remote never worked, so try it in this order with a delay of about 5 seconds.
My Chamberlain programmed in about 30 seconds.

Try holding down the garage door opener for about 5 seconds before pressing the pair button. It took me a couple tries, but it finally worked.

I have Linear brand garage door openers and this process is NOT working. A real PIA having to get out of car everytime to close door!

I have an Overhead Door brand garage door opener. After unsuccessfully performing the second step of the Rivian garage door set up (linking the Rivian to the garage door opener with three successive screen button presses) trying multiple times yesterday I finally gave up in frustration.

Today, I tried doing the whole garage opener set up process again - but this time with the Rivian parked inside the garage rather than directly in front of it as it was yesterday. Naturally, today it successfully completed the garage door set up on the first try. The only difference between yesterday‘s repeated failures and today was the location of the R1S during the set up.

My process of pushing buttons like an orangutan (Liftmaster brand) was entirely unsuccessful and resulted in me unpairing every other door opener I owned.

Reading the directions did get me to a successful resolution, but I feel like a failure resorting to it.

@beinenson thank you so much for this post! I have a Liftmaster gate opener that simply wouldn’t program following Rivian’s instructions. Your instructions worked!

The gate opener is relatively new (2 years old) and has a learn button, so it’s rolling code. But, Rivian seems to think it’s not.

Your instructions worked and it makes sense. What we’re doing after the Rivian programming is essentially a rolling code learn sequence.

Thanks again — I spent an hour in the 100+ degree Texas heat trying every permutation I could think of before finding your post and trying yours.

We have 8 remotes programmed into our R1T. These range from a 20 year old gate code where the remote uses the old 10 dip switches to less than a year old Chamberlain with rolling code and WiFi control.

I programmed all eight of these just using a remote up near the rear view mirror. I was amazed that each one programmed on the first try.

I have found this GDO system in the R1T to fit our needs very well. In our Silverado we use the 3 Home Link Buttons installed in the truck plus two additional 3 button remotes clipped to the sun visor.

Now. All we need is several additional trip odometers.

My relatively new Liftmaster also programmed the first try. I was done in < 1 minute. I followed Rivian's instructions, never pushed any buttons on the opener itself, and only held down the remote button once. Every other car I've ever programmed has been significantly more difficult. I was pretty amazed at how easy it was.

I'm not at home, so I can't look it up, but it's a pre-92 model. These older models are notoriously insecure because they don't have rolling codes. This is the module I used to add rolling codes. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RYV05S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ultimately, I still had to adapt a little when it came to programming. Essentially, I made sure to pause enough between steps to make sure the opener was programming.

Hi there!

I just installed 2022.15.0 and wanted to add a garage door opener from Lift Master "Learning Remote". Follow my steps, and you will be victorious!

[print or copy this page to your phone for an easy step by step process]

Go to Settings/Vehicle/Garage Door

Add a new

Name your Garage/Gate

Follow the prompts and use your existing remote to hold the button and press pair on the screen.

It will say successful.

Now you will have two choices: Test Again and Done.

DO NOT MOVE!

Go to your garage hardware and press the LEARN button and come back to the vehicle. Press TEST AGAIN - wait for a three-beep confirmation from the garage hardware.

Go back to the garage hardware, press the LEARN button the second time, come back to the vehicle, and press TEST AGAIN -
wait for a three-beep confirmation from the garage hardware.

Go back (the final third time) to the garage hardware, press the LEARN button the third time, come back to the vehicle, and press TEST AGAIN -
wait for a three-beep confirmation from the garage hardware.

Hit Continue/Done

Test the regular button from your Rivian.

Have a beer!
this also worked for my R1T with a Liftmaster Chain Gate opener. Only hit the learn button once instead of twice, heard the 3 beeps, tested again, and it was working immediately. thank you!
