I was having intermittent issues with the steering wheel button, turns out I was just being impatient, I know just do one quick tap and it works 100% of the time. Are you pushing the steering wheel button or the button on the infotainment screen?
I have noticed that the steering wheel button is hit and miss, even when I am right in front of the door. When using the infotainment button it is 100%.
Both are the same for me. If one doesn’t work, the other doesn’t work. Are you pushing the steering wheel button or the button on the infotainment screen?

I will try that. Thanks.I was having intermittent issues with the steering wheel button, turns out I was just being impatient, I know just do one quick tap and it works 100% of the time.
Yep, that’s how I did it. Perhaps a delete and re program is worth a shotI had a similar issue and found I had to do the programming from inside my garage with the garage door closed. It involved some quick sprinting from the driveway through my house. (Or maybe it was the other direction I sprinted).
Try that. Basically do the garage side of the programming with your garage door shut.
Sounds like you are hitting the button too many times or too long and it gets a second signal to stop.Mine is spotty too. When I press the steering wheel button it always starts to go up, but one time out of five or so it will stop after raising the door about a foot. I can't figure out why this intermittent issue happens.
This mirrors my experience. I have had zero issues with the steering wheel button once I realized it just needs a "click". Every time it fails to operate is on me holding the button down too long.I was having intermittent issues with the steering wheel button, turns out I was just being impatient, I know just do one quick tap and it works 100% of the time.
You're right but there's more too it. I did discover that I was holding down the button too long and have been doing just a quick tap ever since. That cleared up most of the issues and it works most of the time now. However, there are still instances when I do a quick tap and it still goes up a bit and then stops. I literally had this happen twice in a row. I was approaching my house, did a quick tap, the garage door went up a foot and stopped. As I drove into the driveway, I did another quick tap and it went down. Then I stopped in front of the garage door, did a quick tap and it went up a foot and stopped again. There was nothing obstructing the signal, I was stopped and not moving, it definitely detected the tap, I did a quick tap vs. long tap, and it still didn't work right. There seems to be some intermittent issue.Sounds like you are hitting the button too many times or too long and it gets a second signal to stop.
I have the location set in 2 different locations after some initial inconsistent behavior by the steering will button I found it to be my issue, I was just being impatient.
What I found was 1 quick tap of the button will cause the button to provide visual feedback that it was triggered within .5 to 1.5 seconds, it Is a visual flash of the button getting darker and returning to normal. After you see that within a few seconds (I have seen mine be close to 5 seconds on a couple of occasions) you should see the garage door start to open.
Once I was able to see and understand the behavior mine has worked 100% of the time at both locations.
Wow. This may be what's going on with ours too. It works when we get home (LED light is off) but when we are leaving, I have to be practically under the door to trigger it.I had this problem pre-Rivian. Turned out it was the cheap LED lights I installed in the opener. Replaced them with LED lights specifically for garage door openers and the problem went away.
