Garage opens but doesn’t close

Mine was fussy as well and was hit or miss. I found that if I poked the button and waited a second or so it would trigger the door correctly. It seems like there's a little bit of a lag between poking the button and action with the door.

If I pressed the button, it didn't work.

Quick tap or long tap will open the garage. Nothing closes it. Very strange. It’s like the signal is different. I have to use Rivian to open. Once I drive out on to the driveway, open the armrest, and press the garage door opener to close it.

This morning mine didn't work after pressing the button. Then I looked at the driver's screen where it didn't display that I was able to do that. Had to click through the garage context screen like a peasant.

Did you read the messages about changing the LED bulb? Wait for the garage door light to turn off before you try to close it...if that works you need to change the bulb.

yea I did but I don’t know what it refers to in our Genie.

Depends if you replaced your lightbulbs with LED bulbs, if you did they can cause interference with radio signal from remotes.

Here are some for the genie but there are cheaper universal ones, I put these in my Chamberlain opener.

Only a possible issue if you replaced the opener candescent light bulbs with LED. you can also just remove the current bulbs from the opener to test with.

I was having intermittent issues with the steering wheel button, turns out I was just being impatient, I know just do one quick tap and it works 100% of the time.

My steering wheel button only works if I hold it for 2-3 seconds.

I ran a wire from my opener to outside the garage door to increase the range. I did this pre-Rivian, but it certainly helps. In mine it's the yellow wire on the back of the motor unit (was only about three inches long, I used a wire nut to connect to a much longer wire). Obviously yours may be different, but worth checking.

Never replaced it. It has the original one in there.

Reviving a dead thread, I got the Genie LED bulb and all my garage door issues have been fixed! I'm not the OP but thought maybe there is one person out there who would benefit from an update.
