That makes no sense for so many reasons, but good for you, I guess?

You have no deductible? Because a door ding can be fixed for far less than the average deductible, unless the damage is far more severe than a parking lot door ding.
$500 deductible on a $3300 repair. A typical ding can be repaired with PDR, but the door hit us and scrapped the paint away and left a crease. They have to repair the dings, paint and blend with the front door which requires removing emblems etc. Believe me, I never would have guessed $3300.

That's crazy. I paid $100 to have a door ding removed with PDR, but the paint was obviously not damaged. So you had more than just a regular door ding, you have a true dent, creased and paint chipped. That's different than what I thought you were talking about.

What ever happened to those good old designs with that large plastic protective molding running down the sides.

How does the gear guard cable work? As best I can tell you can plug both ends into the utility panel or if you need more length you can loop the cable ends and just plug one end into the utility panel. In my case I haul both canoes and bikes at the same time. So if I get two cables and loop one on itself for the canoes and the second one for the bikes and plug both cables into the utility panel, does it secure both cables? I don’t know how to test this without cutting a cable.

Ummm, yeah, that should work.
Or loop the cable 2 then loop cable 1 through the cable 2's end and plug in cable 1
What do you want to test?
Though, let's face it, the cable is a deterrent from anyone just looking to grab and go. If someone really wants your stuff and has some simple tools, they can snap through that thin "cable" right quick
