day 20
- noticed subwoffer rattles at 50-80Hz range (standard audio). Apparently a known defect.
- touch sensors on door handles stopped working. They barely worked from the beginning, now completely gone.
I thought gen 2 std audio didn’t have a subwoofer, no?

Lately the passenger front window will not roll down - sometimes works and sometimes does not. Seems random but hard to say. Also excessive wind noise coming from same window - may be related, perhaps window is not closing all the way sometimes?

EDIT: WINDOW IS DEFINITELY NOT CLOSING ALL THE WAY. This would explain the wind noise.

I did try a soft reset which seemed to fix it temporarily, but problem returned.

Mobile service apt to address this in about a week. Anyone else have this issue?

I have not seen that issue. The latest i did have was my charge port cover seems to have broke. I came out to the garage yesterday morning, unplugged my wall charger, pushed the button to close, and it was disconnected/loose, wouldn't move, just kind of flopped there. I have no idea how this happened, and the only thing i can think of is the night before we had a friend come over, and i took them out to the garage to show them the costumes, and then went back in the house. We were on the opposite side of the car from the charge port, but my suspicion is that when activating and running the car costumes it tried to close the charge port door with the wall charger plugged in. Only thing i can think of. Other than that my only real issue with my Gen2 R1S has been the front radars.

Do both the driver’s and the passenger’s controls fail to roll it down? I just noticed yesterday that my (driver) controls work for every other window but the front passenger’s- but it works fine if I use the front passenger door control for it. I haven’t tried a reset or anything yet. I’ve had an occasional rattle (like something is loose inside) the drivers door for a while and I wonder if the two are related somehow.

Yes, when it is not working neither driver or passenger side switch will work. I think when it is working both of them work. But would need to double-check.

Edit: So i checked it out a bit yesterday. The window was working (ie going up and down) but was not closing all the way - about 1 cm short of fully closed. "helping" it up manually closed the gap some but I wasn't able to get it fully closed. Maybe the motor needs to be replaced?

Picked up our Gen 2 at the end of September.

-So far we have alignment issues as the car pulls to the right

-Steering Wheel shakes a lot at highway speeds

-Dashboard rattle on the drivers side door rear

-Rear Drivers side door is hard to close and is misaligned slightly

Have been waiting close to three weeks to even be scheduled by the Gaithersburg SC.. totally disappointed so far in the service experience as we feared.

Update: Mobile Service guy came to fix it yesterday. He opened up the door panel, found a loose connector, and fixed it in about 30 minutes start to finish. Window is working normally again!

This was my first experience with Rivian mobile service and it was awesome.

My Gen2 R1S likes to wake up when my phone comes near it at home, but not my spouses. Proximity lock at home has been disabled.

I think it's a software issue with the e-fuses. Thankfully a soft reset fixes it easily enough.

We just traded in a gen1 R1S for a Gen2. Overall the build quality on our gen2 is much better, it's significantly quieter so far. Both by design, and with fewer rattles. The "issues" with the gen2 are the door handle noises are somewhat annoying, but they honestly are on Gen1 as well if you sit in the vehicle and lock/unlock it. There do seem to be some growing pains with the Gen2 software, but over time I expect the things that are causing those issues will become a net improvement for both Rivian and owners.

And, FWIW, we had a meridian sound system in our Gen1. The premium audio in our Gen2 sounds better. For whatever reason, the audio system in our Gen1 R1S never sounded nearly as good as it does in my R1T.
Are the door handle noises considered to be "to spec?" I just got my Gen2 R1S last week, and this noise is so unnatural for a brand new car. For those unfamiliar, here's a timestamped link:

I sprayed some lithium grease in there, and it didn't change at all. Anyone have experience fixing this?

I noticed the other day that the creeks have resolved themselves after someone mentioned they were talking to their delivery center and Rivian said it should resolve itself with time.

That's great to hear. Thanks!

There are a lot of weird and inconsistent behaviors with all the interior overhead lights.
Now that the time change is happened, I am noticing more of the bad behavior of the overhead lighting.
Often time no lights come on when opening a door. Sometime when I open the rear doors, no lights at all turn on. Then I have to go to the drivers door and open that and all lights come on.

Other times I open the drivers door and the rear lights come on but not the front overheard.

I also just noticed the light inside the center arm rest box is on even when it is closed. Not sure if/when it ever turns off.

Good news is that it's all software controlled. Bad news is that it's all software controlled. ?

The door light issue is the same on my gen 1. A recent update was supposed to address it, but I see the same behavior.

Had the SC look at two of my door handles for squeaking/rubbing like that. They improved in some, I think just with lubrication but now another one is doing it. I think it’s probably just going to come and go depending on dirt and grime vs lubrication levels.

In the last several days, the R1S has been waking spontaneously. Exterior lights go on, and infotainment lights go on as well. It would wake for about 15 minutes, then lights go off. It then repeats about every hour. Last night, it seemed to be staying on even longer. This is draining the battery between one to two percent a day. I watched the app all day yesterday and it didn't appear to wake up during the day while parked so I thought the issue was resolved., Unfortunately the security camera shows that it was waking again but seemingly only at night. The R1 is not plugged in while this is happening. It is fully charged to 70 % when I remove the charger. In the AM is at 68% or 69% on certain days.

The only issue I've noticed so far is lots of rattles. Both the front door pulls on the inside creak/rattle while driving. Sometimes if I squeeze the driver's side one a certain way, it can quiet it for a while. I can't reach the passenger side one to confirm it's the same thing. Last night I noticed there's also a rattle coming from somewhere in the b-pillar on the driver's side (kind of where the seatbelt hides when retracted).
