If you insist they may release it...but they might want you to sign something that says you understand the vehicle is not safe to drive. A complete guess on my part. I believe this part is a federally required safety item though so it's possible they may refuse on those grounds.

Sucks not to have the car but hopefully they have you something decent as a loaner. Maybe just ride that out until the part gets in?

Not sure what state you are in but in Nj, if the service center has your vehicle for longer than 3 weeks, they have to buy it back under the vehicle lemon law if you pursue it. A friend had his Cadillac Lyriq purchased back without issues. They take off $1,000 for each 1,000 miles it is in the odometer.

Waiting that long for a button is ridiculous. It might be a state law though that they can't release it without the button working. I would threaten to lemon law to speed things up. They should be able to overnight the button from the factory.

Yeah, I’ll give it a try today. The loaner is a four seat sedan, which doesn’t exactly replace the R1S.

But at this point, it’s been sitting in their lot longer than I’ve gotten to have it and I’m still paying for it.

Yeah it's frustrating. Maybe they can put you in an R1S loaner if they can't give you the vehicle back?

I went by today just to see if they’d release it, and coincidentally the part arrived last night and it was ready to pick up! So it all worked out after all!
