A few days ago I had this dreaded message pop up on my dash and I've been doing lots of reading up on it. Have any other Gen 2 owners had this issue?

For a bit of context, I have no restrictions on any functionality. I can change drive modes, ride height, stiffness etc. The only sign anything is wrong is the error message.

Based on a very helpful thread by @Riviot who previously had a similar issue, I was turned on to it possibly being a sensor/wiring issue. Almost ALL of the threads that pop up with a search had a similar outcome that was wiring related. Though I checked underneath and all of the connectors and wiring looks pretty solid (makes sense given it only has 4,000 miles on it). Could be an air leak, but I'm no noticing it sitting out of level in the morning when I get in.

But of course all of my reading up has been on Gen 1 vehicles. Gen 2 has a revised system that may be different (thought it is clearly a revision and not an entire re-work). Anyone else with a G2 have this warning come up? What was the cause for you?

**EDIT** I do have a SC appointment set up, but they won't take me until the end of January - so I am being very impatient

Oh this is different from mine, I could change drive modes but not ride height or stiffness.

IRT OBD question, I'm pretty sure Rivian techs have an adapter to ethernet cable to plug in, and we don't have any access to anything with standard OBD equipment.

Have you tried, before driving, changing ride height and seeing if it goes off?

Oh interesting. I didn't realize you had those restrictions.

Bummer about OBD - I figured that was the case. The Ride app is pretty useless if you want to know anything except for HV battery stats haha.

I haven't tried changing ride height before taking off but I'll do that next time I go.

Most of the time it seems to trigger a couple of minutes after I start driving. Although much less common, 2 or 3 times it has triggered the moment I step on the brake to start driving.

I did some testing just now leaving work. It had been sitting for about 4 hours. And I got in and immediately went from standard ride height to high. It did so immediately without having to kick on the air pump and with no warnings on the dash. Then I went down to low, and again it did so immediately without any warnings on the dash. It didn't kick on the air pump until I backed out of my parking spot.

So I'm assuming I don't have an air leak, and changing ride height in place did not seem to trigger any warnings so... Maybe not a wiring issue??

After just a moment of driving it came on as always. So I'm left scratching my head at this point... Maybe something hydraulic? Maybe a sensor or computer error? Fairly likely given the new platform but I'm at a loss. Having real diagnostic info beyond a vague idiot light message would be very nice LOL

This just happened to me yesterday driving from San Diego to Rosarito Mexico. Got to Rosarito and the suspension light came on and my BRAND NEW R1S Tri Max, 500 miles, went into turtle mode. This is my second Rivian R1S, my 2024 was Lemon Lawed and they repurchased it, I leased the new one three weeks ago. Bad luck? More like bad trucks. I’ve done multiple resets, put the truck into sleep mode to no avail…. What’s interesting is that when it come out of sleep mode everything is fine temporarily, until I stop and then restart. This is when the suspension light comes back on and it goes right back into turtle mode. No bueno!

That sucks!! I'm sorry to hear that! I'm not getting turtle mode in mine, just the light. Is it giving you any more detail?

@Riviot - no fluid on the ground

The vehicle I ended up taking delivery of is not the one I purchased from the shop - while I was in the waiting room to pick it up, it started showing a suspension error. I took them so long to figure out what was going on that they ended up finding me an identical build in Nevada that they just shipped to me here in Utah. After two and a half weeks they finally figured out the issue with the original, and it ended up being a computer problem... Nothing was physically wrong. I'm wondering if this is the same issue

Hopefully by now they figured out how to deal with it and it won't take weeks to diagnose

Yep, that's what it's sounding like, which is theoretically cheaper and quicker to fix than a mechanical failure. Safer too.

I joined the club for "Service Suspension System Soon" with my 2023 Gen 1 R1T (10K miles) today. Vehicle was in last week for tire rotation and knuckle bolt torquing. Drove it 300 miles over the weekend in snowy conditions. Saw sensor errors due to snow and grime build up during the drive. Cleaned sensors this morning but got the suspension error when I pressed the brake to engage the truck. Soft and hard resets did not clear the error, nor driving. Cannot adjust suspension height or change to Off-Road. Adaptive cruise is disabled. Also see warnings for Emergency Braking and Lane Departure. From other posts, all of these may be on same bus.

Next available appointment in Chelsea is March 5th (7 weeks out). So I wait.

I'm sorry! That sucks! Is it limiting your suspension control options?

Yes. Limited to All Purpose mode and not able to change ride height. That impacts other items like Auto High Beams since that requires leveling.

I'm not sure what the connection to Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Braking and Lane Departure is, but perhaps on the same harness or bus.

Ironically, when I was at Rivian service for my tire rotation on Friday, the guy ahead of me was picking up his vehicle that had a similar suspension fault. I didn't think much about it at the time since mine hadn't thrown the fault yet.

Just got Baymax back from the service center. Turns out it was the West Zone controller! Kind of a major component to have a failure. That being said, I have to give it to Rivian engineering. Even with that being such a major component, the ONLY thing wrong was the error message. The suspension was still fully functional and no other systems were impacted. Literally JUST the warning message. That's some good redundancy.

The nice thing about complicated ICs and computer controllers is that they usually suffer infantile death, meaning that IF they are going to fail, it's almost always early in life. Which is great, because it's still all under warranty
