Other than traffic data, does the Rivian built in Google Maps provide crowd-sourced info like police reports, crashes or traffic cameras?

Google owns Waze but keeps all of Waze’s best features out of Google Maps for some reason.

When using Google Maps via Apple CarPlay, crowdsourced info does appear. I’ve never seen that info displayed on the native Google Maps in the Rivian.

yes but the Google Maps app has this reporting function. I'm just trying to understand how much of it translates to Google Maps in the vehicle.

Didn't you know that RJ and Wassym are smarter than Apple and Google, so they are bringing you a better user experience? That's why they insist on reinventing the wheel by spending so much expensive software engineering level of effort rewriting the DOZENS of MATURE mobile apps that are already avaiable via Apple CarPlay (ACP) and Android Auto (AA), since the rest of the Rivian software is so mature and bug-free and has every feature you could ever want.

AFAIC, Waze is MANDATORY for long daily commutes in urban areas (100+ r/t miles) which I why I was an EV Sportline ACP / AA Smart Dash Screen for Rivian R1T / R1S by Team 1EV early adopter and have been very happy ever since, although now there's also the EV Play Max for Rivian option which I may have considered if it were available 2.5 years ago.

All waze features are in google maps for at least a year , waze may still build some quirky routes for you but all user reported data is in the gmaps already

As far as I understand, Rivian needed its own navigation because CarPlay and Android Auto couldn’t pass the route to the car for charging and autonomy. Apple has now solved that with route sharing, and Tesla is already working on adding CarPlay around it. It’s not limited to Apple Maps either. Waze can work too, as long as it supports the new route-sharing feature. Maybe Rivian will eventually do the same.

And you can always buy a "dumb" EV with AA/carplay, luckily toyota started to make good one (they also solved route planning with apple carplay)
