Didn't you know that RJ and Wassym are smarter than Apple and Google, so they are bringing you a better user experience? That's why they insist on reinventing the wheel by spending so much expensive software engineering level of effort rewriting the DOZENS of MATURE mobile apps that are already avaiable via Apple CarPlay (ACP) and Android Auto (AA), since the rest of the Rivian software is so mature and bug-free and has every feature you could ever want.yes but the Google Maps app has this reporting function. I'm just trying to understand how much of it translates to Google Maps in the vehicle.
All waze features are in google maps for at least a year , waze may still build some quirky routes for you but all user reported data is in the gmaps alreadyGoogle owns Waze but keeps all of Waze’s best features out of Google Maps for some reason.
As far as I understand, Rivian needed its own navigation because CarPlay and Android Auto couldn’t pass the route to the car for charging and autonomy. Apple has now solved that with route sharing, and Tesla is already working on adding CarPlay around it. It’s not limited to Apple Maps either. Waze can work too, as long as it supports the new route-sharing feature. Maybe Rivian will eventually do the same.Didn't you know that RJ and Wassym are smarter than Apple and Google, so they are bringing you a better user experience?
Rivian navigation SUCKS and refuse to use it! Never seen so many wrong speed limits too.As far as I understand, Rivian needed its own navigation because CarPlay and Android Auto couldn’t pass the route to the car for charging and autonomy. And you can always buy a "dumb" EV with AA/carplay, luckily toyota started to make good one (they also solved route planning with apple carplay)
People here say it is the same in terms of building routes as Google Maps, is that not true?Rivian navigation SUCKS and refuse to use it! Never seen so many wrong speed limits too.
Even if the routes are the same it's not got the crowd-sourced real-time alerts as Waze, not interested. And Waze definitely has the most accurate ETAs if you let it learn your driving habits.People here say it is the same in terms of building routes as Google Maps, is that not true?
I don't have rivian yet still considering, I only tried their mobile app route planning and shows completely wrong ETA compared to google, apple or waze for same destination (they seem broke mobile app route planning feature recently , cant find any places anymore so can't validate again)
Google Maps has all data from Waze, they even show that some road conditions are reported by Waze users in tooltips (or Google maps users since google has all reporting features as waze)Even if the routes are the same it's not got the crowd-sourced real-time alerts as Waze, not interested. Last time I checked Google Maps still didn't report alerts like police and other hazards but I do use Maps when I want to find a restaurant or other business.Google Maps has all data from Waze, they even show that some road conditions are reported by Waze users in tooltips (or Google maps users since google has all reporting features as waze)
I used to use Waze only for years but switched to Google Maps mostly because it is now the same (also need a feature to build routes offline sometimes).
