I have an appointment in 2 weeks but wanted to see if anyone might have any thoughts to resolve my issues.

my connectivity stopped working. No GPS or cell service (including SOS). Bluetooth still works. I tried a soft reset. And then even let it sit to go to sleep. Neither worked so I went to do a hard reset and after dinging it doesn’t do anything. Reset doesn’t go. Any thoughts or just wait for my appointment?

edit: I held reset buttons for 20 seconds to be sure

Are you holding the left button and hazard for the full 15 seconds?

A working "Hard Reset" function is integral to Rivian troubleshooting, @W1SE.

I might try holding both buttons for at least 60 seconds, because things can respond slowly for unknown reasons.

Otherwise call (855) RIVIAN-5. Best wishes!

That’s what I thought too. Rivian is stumped. They have a mobile tech coming in a week and a half. Literally hard reset cancels itself. Starts dinging and then goes back to regular without any action made.

Okay, update here, rivian said a mobile appointment wouldnt be sufficient. Now my new SC appointment isn’t until January. I still have no connectivity in the truck. And still can’t do a hard reset. So I decide to try the RIDE menu. That doesn’t even work. my truck is so broke that I don’t have access. When I enter the RIDE menu code the screen goes blank and says “Please make sure there is ride-engine on TCM running”

Are you still driving this, @W1SE?

Yeah, it drives fine. But no connectivity of gps/cell. Just so weird that hard rest doesn’t work and can’t access RIDE menu. blue tooth works. I just have to use my phone for navigation. It’s so old school. ?

I had similar issues with a 2025 Gen2 R1T. No GPS, no connectivity except Bluetooth, no hard reset capability, no hazard lights, no overhead lights. My local service center agreed to get it in and work it around other appointments because the lack of hazard lights is a driver safety issue. So it’s in for work now and I am in an ICE rental until they sort it out.

Had the exact same problem in my wife’s 2023 R1S.

It has been at the service center for 3 weeks. I got the impression it was just sitting there until very recently.

Got a call today saying its ready. It required
some sort of reset involving the 12V battery. No parts replaced as far as I know.

Advisor did say they are seeing this happen more and more. It seems to me this could be done by a mobile tech.

My 2022 R1S Launch edition has the same problem, immediately after the OTA to 2024.43.01 I lost all LTE, SOS, GPS. The car states it has an unknown software version, and the ride menu gives the same error about a ride-engine not on the TCM. I am 3.5 hours from the nearest SC, and they won’t send a mobile tech. Car cant be hard reset and infotainment reset does nothing. They can’t get the car in till January next year. Very frustrating for how much we paid for this vehicle to have such major software/hardware issues… just want to get it back to running :(

SOS not working for me either. Have a service visit in 2 weeks for a few other items added this to the list. My front parking sensor just decided to cave in on itself, no impact. So my sensors are all wonky too.

Mine had the same issue this summer. SC visit and some kind of battery disconnect/reconnect got everything back running. Initially, I thought it was a comms module that failed too -- but a real hard reboot fixed it. Sucks that I had to have it hauled to the SC, but it's all good now.

(p.s. Like the OP, my hard reboot and soft reboots didn't do anything meaningful)

Update on mine. I got it back the day before Thanksgiving. They had to replace the overhead panel where the Hazard Lights button is because it had died. Apparently, there are many comms-related features that run through that panel using an antenna in the hazard button/panel. Once they replaced that, the key cards would not unlock/lock or start the truck. It took a little bit of troubleshooting, and the SC to collab with Rivian engineering, to figure out the software on the new overhead panel was not synched with the software in the other modules in the truck. The engineers wrote a script for the SC to update everything to the correct version and it all worked great since then.

Since then it has been running really well on update 43, but I still have totally random resets that happen when I get in to the truck to drive it. Most recent was yesterday, at a coffee shop, right after the barista asked how I liked the Rivian, and I said I really liked it...I left, got in the truck, stepped on the brake, and it started, then totally died. Black screens. Nothing. I did a hard reset, and it did not seem to work, so I got out, locked the truck with the key card, unlocked it, and then it rebooted and started up with no issue.

I'm beginning to think they actually run these vehicles on Windows95 under the covers...

A mobile tech became available to co r put my license plate holders on December 19th, I asked them to try the 12V battery reset … so we shall see if I still need to take it down to the SC in January
