Little over 22K on the odometer and I'm still on the original set of pirelli scorpions, but on my second set of half shafts. Have there been any revisions to the design on the origin half shafts or is it generally accepted that I'll be replacing half shafts more often than I replace my tires

There are many revisions though no info on what was revised. I think they are on version G now. Check the long half shaft thread as it is full of info.

Thanks. I looked at that thread but it seemed to be all gen 2 - I'll keep looking backwards.

In my last appointment to address the clicking noise, they added ting washers rather than replace the half shafts. For now, the solution is working and I'm happy with it.

I’m on my second set of ting washers. They last about 6 months then the noise comes back.

I am on my third set, just under 50k miles, wife driven car, so no wood block under accelerator needed, and wouldn't help the issue. On the last most recent replacement it has been louder or more pronounced clicking and poppoing noises from standstill and decell than ever before. Like the installed a worse set than they took out.

Can someone post the link for the main thread noted above. My concern is that we should get the warranty on those mechanism extended if its a design and engineering failure / root cause.

2023 Gen 1 R1S Quad here and just had my half-shafts replaced with the G variant. I bought it used and it its had this issue since I bought it. I just thought that the noise was normal (which the service center told me the first time I raised it). It got really bad (like nails on a chalkboard) for me, so I made another appointment and they replaced them. It's like night and day. It's quiet like it should be!!! No clue if it will last, but I'll enjoy the silence for now.

Here's the other thread: half-shaft issue thread

No offense meant, I was just attempting some humor.

yeah, none taken, just trying to respond with same sarcasm. My wife drives it as if it only had 100HP was my point. So its not a heavy right foot thing.

Yesterday I started hearing half shaft failure sounds.

Late 2024 build. Hope they throw in the new design, and I'm going to see if they will do both sides (doubtful on this)

I had an appointment this Monday for my 15k checkup. Was supposed to be a simple tire rotation and whatever else was needed. Turns out I’m getting a loaner (or rental car) as they added the Ting Washer replacement to my work order.

Late 2024 Dual build.

Same here, 1 year and ≈10,000 miles after my first set, 2nd set of ting washers were put in. Mine were only popping lightly but, I also needed service for several other items so, added the half-shaft clicking to the list.

I'm curious what their long-term fix is. I'm also curious what a failure looks like if these go long enough without service :movember:
