Quick video of my R1T going up Hell's Gate in Moab. I could have taken a slightly better line. And it might have been better going a little faster to maybe avoid some of the tire slipping. But this is a lot harder than it looks, going fast would be terrifying. Lockers would help a LOT.

Fun. I gasped that moment your right tires slipped and the vehicle rotated near that wall. I know nothing of off-roading but this looked like a confident ascent. Thanks for posting.

I’ve done it in my jeep, but you are braver than I am with the Rivian. How was the rest of the trail as far as scraping underneath or either end? I’m gonna be there this weekend in the Rivian! ???

On another part of the trail we smashed the front bumper pretty badly by misjudging a ledge. Can you believe the "skid plate" under the front is plastic? There is a substantial composite skid plate under the battery but the ends are pretty vulnerable. I had to constantly remind myself to baby the truck. That one lapse of concentration will be costly. (And it would have been nothing but it little paint scratch on my old Jeep.)

That's awesome, thanks for sharing. Is that scratch/dent on the rear passenger bed panel from that trip or a trick or the lighting? Love that red color, especially in that landscape!

I'm not sure when that happened but it was definitely not on Hell's Gate. I think I snagged a tree branch on an earlier part of the trip. No big deal: an off-road vehicle with no scratches isn't being used to the fullest :)

Maybe I’ll be a chicken and do Chicken Corners instead. ?

Nice!
Based on previous posts you have a quad. Lockers missing LOL. Lockers go on diffetentials. You don’t have those and no place to put them. Quad is better than any car with locking differentials. I’ll let you do the research .
Not trying to start a polemic but it’s getting old as many people propagate this misunderstanding.
We all just need to wish for more updates for better individual motor controls in rock climbing . And dual motors people should wish for lockers ?.

Good achievement none the less ?

I use the term "lockers" loosely in this context to mean "software lockers" ie "better individual motor controls". I was actually pleasantly surprised how well the current software works in most cases. There's a lot of unnecessary wheel slip but mostly I was able to get thru the obstacles anyway. But there were a couple of times when it just gave up and said "Performance limited" and I had to back down (no easy feat on "Tip Over Challenge" :-(

Quad is only *potentially* better than mechanical lockers. Compare my video on Hell's Gate last year with my Jeep (no chirps, no slipping, just a nervous wife behind the camera :)

The tires on the jeep are also much bigger proportionally to the vehicle. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that the bigger tires matter as more rubber down means more grip. Not only that but the Jeep is much lighter so it requires less grip on the rock face than the Rivian does. So I'm betting it's hard to tell how much is the bigger tires and how much is the electronics vs mechanical lockers and weight.

It could be possible that those two things make it so the electronic control is the only thing that even allows the Rivian to climb the sort of stuff it does and if it had just standard lockers it might not make it up at all because of the smaller tires and heavier weight.

Those tires on the jeep are awesome. Lots of sidewall traction and ability to air down a lot more. Wish Rivian had that option too!
