Can’t argue with that. Even at 10:1 it shows how the car industry in china is booming. I guess it just bums me out that here we 3or4 car companies and a lot of people including the gobermint like to shit all over 1.
What are the 3? Tesla, Rivian, Lucid and Kanoo? What does it mean to “have” a car company? Does Chrysler count? How about companies like Toyota and Honda that make cars here?

I hate to be the outlier here.. But I kinda like it.

And being from China, the aftermarket clone replacement parts are going to be huge!

Three that I was referring to are GM, Ford, and Tesla. American brands I guess is what I meant. I intentionally didn’t put Rivian on my list because they are still getting established. Personally I wish Americans had more choices like elsewhere.

I'm not really one to say I wouldn't want all the options if I could have them, but I don't really feel like we have a dearth of options in America as is. There are (if you're counting brand labels and not considering who owns which brands) dozens of brands to choose from in America. Further, as a nation where almost every individual is vastly more well-off than the majority of the rest of the world, if you REALLY want one specific vehicle that isn't sold in the US, it's not really that hard to buy it, have it shipped here, and get it licensed. If you want it bad enough, most of us have the means for that extra cost or could have the means.

Every manufacturer jumping on the luxury vehicle bandwagon. Meanwhile some of us are still out here waiting for no-frills EV work trucks for fleet use, LOL. #laugh/cry ?

The Yangwang U8 checks all the boxes.

I seriously considered a quad R1S but bought a fully loaded 2024 BMW iX50 instead for the luxury (leather), fit & finish (tight as a drum) and the Level 3 autonomous driving. Handles like a dream and the Bowers and Wilkens is the best sounding audio system I have ever heard in a car however the iX can not really go off road for a post apocalyptic world.

Well the U8 goes off road and can even floats during a flood, while offering better than Range Rover luxury Nappa leather and premium finishes and autonomous driving.

In the end, tariffs only harm the consumer. Ever since Tesla came to market the big three have been in denial and are now relying on tariffs to protect their dying EV market.

Tariffs exist here because China heavily subsidizes their EV industry, and without tariffs, it would amount to channel stuffing at artificially low, non-market prices. This isn’t healthy at all for long term industry equilibrium. Tariffs make sense here

Chinese stuff is just inferior. Even my damn costa glasses frames I had from a couple years ago (Japan made) led me to order another pair last year. Broke in less than a week. Looked closely and the new frame is made in China. Had them replace under warranty and still feels flimsy AF.

I avoid China made at all costs but it's so hard to mind everything.
