I completely understand why the limit is something like 125 lbs -- when the swing is deployed, the 2nd hitch and any other weight will be out on a lever well away from a single hinge. However, just your spare and the bike rack exceed the limit!I almost bought one, too, but they said my bike rack and 2 e-bikes exceed the 125 lb weight limit on their additional hitch. I’m waiting for Wilco Off-road to get back to me now.
1) Full size Rivian 20" spare wheel and tire ~86 lbs +
2) 1UpUSA Super Duty Double bike rack weight ~50 lbs +
3) e-bike weight of ~65 lbs x2
= grand total of 266 lbs.
yup. They have one ready for shipping.Contact Rigd and they have a couple first batch Rivian specific UltraSwings, which are not on their website.
I don't have the Rigd one, but @gtrivian said he does. The one I have, document in this string, blocks the rear camera and sensors significantly enough to be useless and annoying. How does it affect the rear camera?
yup. They have one ready for shipping.
thinking about pulling the trigger on it.
any view out the rear camera?
I assume you turn off the rear sensors when you have it connected.
Thanks.
Any chance you can give us pictures of it directly behind the car and the side of it?installed - went fairly smoothly.
Seems like quite a high quickly swing carrier. Pricy ($1699). Has a lot of options to attach mods which I may consider in the future.
Impotantly, the tailgate will fold completely flat with the tire swung out. Feels very solid.

I've heard from Wilco Offroad now. I spoke with Shane Morris sales & distribution mgr and more, x102 , 877-945-2684I almost bought one, too, but they said my bike rack and 2 e-bikes exceed the 125 lb weight limit on their additional hitch. I’m waiting for Wilco Off-road to get back to me now.

Thank you for this! I'll wait a month or two to check back with them. Will save me about $700 going this route versus the one Rig'd is offering.I've heard from Wilco Offroad now. I spoke with Shane Morris sales & distribution mgr and more, x102 , 877-945-2684
He said I should call back in a month, after his monthly meeting with ownership, as they are contemplating / piloting a version of the Hitchgate Solo with a ~4”+ longer tongue for vehicles like Rivians and Land Rovers with recessed hitch receivers.
This would avoid the need for a hitch extender, and the halving of weight capacity.
Cost could be $1,100 to $1,200 like existing versions of the Hitchgate Solo.
Hitchgate Solo ‘High Clearance’ version is the best choice currently; select ‘yes’ to add the $70 Secondary Cargo Hitch for bike racks https://wilcooffroad.com/collections/hitchgates/products/hitchgate-solo?variant=40038623969467
These are currently in stock and ready to ship, would likely take 2 to 4 days from Austin, TX
~250 lbs max weight when locked (without a hitch extender), which drops to ~150 lbs when swing it open
Could remove an e-bike before swing it open in order to minimize risks associated with exceeding weight capacity.
I should measure the distance of the lip of the bumper to the edge of recessed receiver, and compare that against the dimension of the 1.5” rise version of the Wobble Free Hitch Extension https://wilcooffroad.com/collection...e-free-hitch-extension?variant=41028560355515 . If that Extension doesn’t fit when inserted upright, then could turn it upside down. For liability reasons, Wilco cannot recommend use of a hitch extender for a Hitchgate Solo. Return policy: expect a 10% restocking fee, but if powder coat / paint is clearly damaged, expect 25% restocking fee.
Sorry apparently didn’t take great angles of pics and don’t have it immediately available to take pics of again. I do have this one sort of from the sideAny chance you can give us pictures of it directly behind the car and the side of it?
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Seems like it’s tucked up there pretty close to the liftgate. Is the rear camera useful at all for seeing cross traffic? Any estimate the whole thing adds to vehicle length? Thanks.Sorry apparently didn’t take great angles of pics and don’t have it immediately available to take pics of again.
