Probably a dumb question, but now that they're getting vehicles out into people's hands, how "weatherproof" is the spare tire storage area?

I found this quote on a post from last March: "Lift the bed floor for additional weatherproof, lockable storage. The area fits an optional full-size spare and also doubles as a cooler, with an integrated plug for easy drainage."

Has anyone tested this? ?

The area around the spare tire collects dirt and sand (if you put sandy dogs in the back, or other “truck stuff”). I have not seen water there, but it’s not a tight seal IHMO….

YMMV!
