I do agree a newer year is preferable, but I wouldn't use Tesla as a benchmark. They added a number of improvements to the Model 3 in 2022 compared to 2021 (heat pump, dual pane front glass, heated wipers, new CPU in the infotainment, etc) which make it much more desirable in the used market. If the vehicle hadn't changed at all I don't think there would have been a big difference.^ I agree it's BS, but as you see in the KBB valuation... the VIN title year does impact resale and or trade in value. So if you have a choice like us buyers taking delivery in Dec or Jan have.. it's possibly worth waiting another few weeks to get a "year newer" vehicle.
