So (writing this on my phone so excuse any typos or grammar errors).

This weekend we went up to the Jemez Mountains and did an overnight.
Beautiful day, wonderful weather. 70’s and sunny. 8000 feet and the sun is strong.

I walk by the truck and the fan is running.
Turn it off and walk away. Truck locks and fan comes on again.

Now I didn’t want it to run as we are off grid with no charging for tons of miles.
I don’t know how much the fan will use, but I didn’t want it to run for 4-5 hours till sunset.

I found that if I turn off proximity locking and left it unlocked it wouldn’t come on.
I ended up moving to a shady spot, but what if I’m out at White Sands with zero shade? (see my profile photo).

Is there a way to keep cooling off and the car locked?
Or is the drain minimal and I shouldn’t worry too much?
Will it really damage my screens? It seems hot cars have been around a long time.

thanks all

photo is when I moved it to shade

(also: can odometer be moved to driver screen?)

and yes I did have enough range to easily get back, but I like to have control of my car being on or not…and there are trips that will be more challenging with round trip range.

I find that with PaaK if you are near the vehicle it wakes and starts cabin conditioning. This happens at greater distances and well before I get close enough for the doors to unlock. I believe the best way to stop this is to disable bluetooth on the phone.

I put it in camping mode without the leveling function, that worked for me

i dont have proximity enabled, i was not near my vehicle and the fan was going to try to cool the cabin. i only noticed because i happened to be looking at the app to check the state of charge on my R1T. and i also dont like that its automatically trying to cool the cabin but based on your screenshot it looks like its trying to "protect displays". i did not have that message on my app when my fans went on.

When you get ready to leave the car, turn off the HVAC. For me that prevents it from coming on. But to be fair, I haven't seen that notice on cooling for the displays.

I find this to be a staggering omission - on a level with no handle on the A-pillar. How can anyone drive one of these vehicles (or get in) without missing these?

We went out to a trailhead last weekend for a hike...sign says trailhead is 11 miles...and ffs, I have to switch back and forth between the Nav and (now) Settings? It's like the vehicle was designed by people who have never actually driven a vehicle before.

Semi off topic, but agreed. Other than driver display, the original location made more sense. I think Rivian drastically underestimated how often people use the trips and odometer info. And decided to hide it deeper?

I’ve been getting the exact same message about cooling displays. It’s happening even on cool days in the 60s, one time the internal temperature showed 93 (no way in shade). Also seems to be happening when I’m nearby with phone, but no way to tell if it’s happening more when I’m not around unless I happen to look at app. Hope this gets addressed in OTA.
