IRS Tax Credit Form Delayed?

Spoke with my accountant yesterday, it sounds as though the IRS tax credit form is delayed until mid Feb? Has anyone else ran into this? Any guidance would be helpful! Thanks!

This has been covered in at least 10 threads in regards to what changed in august. I don’t know anything about a delay in any form though.

H&R Block accepted my return with no delay and the EV tax credit applied.

Form 8911 for station install seems to have just been updated the last few days - not all software may have updated yet

I was reading that IRS form 8936 Qualified Plug-in EV form was only delayed by TurboTax. Is it actually an IRS delay?

Started my Taxes with TurboTax and accepted the previous $7,500 credit. Asked if I was under a contract to purchase before 8/16/22. I took delivery 10/1/22. Everything went through as I signed Rivian’s contract.

I was reading that IRS form 8936 Qualified Plug-in EV form was only delayed by TurboTax. Is it actually an IRS delay?

I'm wondering the same. It definitely is delayed by Turbo Tax for me until Feb 2 according to my filing yesterday with TurboTax.

Here was the response from my accountant...fyi.

The IRS is working on the Form 8936 at the moment, and we are hearing it will be out of development sometime in February



The last release date for these instructions for this Form 8936 directly form the IRS was dated Jan 2022 – one year ago



The new instructions will most likely have a Feb 2023 release date.



So, we cannot rely on any of the existing instructions as they are in meetings to let us now the final instructions.



On top of that they will change the 2022 Form name from Qualified Plug-In Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit to Clean Vehicle Credit

TurboTax unlocked their side and allowed me to fill out the form on Friday, Jan 20. My tax bill is $7,500 less now!

Thanks. How recent? I was getting frustrated over weekend because it kept saying I get zero for the charger. I am just trying to figure out if I am doing something wrong....
