I was responsible for starting one of the Reddit threads. Wassym responded to me directly and took my VIN plus other details. There’s definitely an issue of which they’re aware. Something happened with the latest SW update. 2025 R1S DMP here.

Thanks. I searched those threads and while most people don't specify, when they do it seems to be Gen 2's.

First hot summer with my gen 1 R1S and I've been disappointed by the A/C performance. My 10 year old 4runner was much better. Not sure I'd attribute it to the latest update though. It takes 15+ minutes of driving with max A/C to cool down the interior after sitting in 90F weather for the day. Vents are blowing cool, but not cold most of the time, at least when blowing lots of air. Ventilated did seem they used to be more effective 6+ months ago...

Gen 2 R1T - it absolutely takes longer to reach a point where the air is cool but it still "works". It just takes longer now.

Yep. Multiple people saying theirs turned anemic after the last update. You can go argue with them.
It is your conclusion that I'm "arguing" about. You're making the classic error in reasoning where correlation is mistaken for causation.

Software updates are released every 4 weeks, which means that EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM that anyone has ever experienced with a Rivian occurs within a month of a software update. And if you list all the dates halfway between these software updates, then you find the same thing - every single problem shows up within a month of those random dates. So can we conclude that ALL Rivian problems are caused by software updates?

Let's try it another way. The majority of A/C problems are reported in the Summer. Go ahead - search the forums to confirm that, I'll wait. Does that mean Summer causes A/C problems?

A large majority of Rivian owners are Connect+ subscribers, who receive the update in the first week. If a problem were caused by faulty software, then a majority of the people on this forum would be commenting within that first week. That is just not happening.

No AC issue with my Gen 1 R1S but I did notice the ventilated seat seems to be less effective in cooling than before.
After last update my ventilated seats stopped working, even though set to HI

The update has been out for three weeks and the vast majority of users have already installed it - I would think if "everyone" was having problems then we'd have heard about it by now.
There are quite a few complaints in various other threads. So just trying to gauge it. I just had a temp. sensor go out on mine a month ago. It sucked and it took them over a week to fix it. I don't want to go through anemic A/C again in August.

Just curious.....what were the symptoms of your bad sensor? My Tri AC won't shut off once thermostat temp is reached. For example I have pre conditioning set every morning for 71 degrees at 6:45am. Every morning at 6:45 the app tells me the truck us 63 degrees. Asked SC to check it, and they said nothing was wrong. They drove it 15 minutes in 95 degree heat......It won't get that cool in 15 mins.

My seat cooler has been considerably weaker since the last two updates.

Gen 2 R1T DMP here. A/C isn't noticeably different, but I don't think I've stressed the system very much. Like others noted, the ventilated seats don't seem as cool/cold as they have been in the past, and they do default to the heated seat option when I press the seat icon.

Oh this problem is SUPER annoying. There's some sort of logic behind picking heating vs cooling, but it has zero pattern I can figure out. My Rivian tends to pick heated seat more often than cooled, sometimes even when super hot inside and out (100F+).

Instead of blasting grievances into ether, on platforms that have zero official ties to the company, maybe it’s more productive (towards solving problems you experienced) to direct feedback to an official channel meant for feedback intake? Rivian mobile app > scroll to share feedback. Or, contact Support. This way the problem is actually read by someone at Rivian and logged, like a IT service ticket—verified, routed and tracked internally.

If you find a oozing sore on your body, down there. You don't go into a busy restaurant and yell "does anyone else have this oozing sore?" and hope there is at least a doctor present, right?

I haven't seen a huge AC difference in my 2022 R1T other than maybe it seems slower?

I have seen a BIG difference in the ventilated seats not really blowing anything on the highest setting. There's a huge Reddit thread about it.

I opened a ticket after seeing that thread and emphasized it's a bug that showed up after the last update. Hopefully if enough people open service tickets they'll get the memo that something changed for the worse.

Now if they can just implement proper code review and testing processes to make sure bugs like this don't get out in the wild...

Wassym does frequent the /r/Rivian sub, but I agree that if we would all make service tickets it'll probably get fixed faster. I think many people asking if they have a similar problem are really trying to confirm if they're the only one or if it's global, which is a fair thing to do.
