About a month ago, I started hearing a faint "High to low" moaning from within my R1T-Dual Large that would disappear when I turned off the HVAC. I figured it was time to change the cabin filter and left it at that. A week or so ago, I began getting a catastrophic error on my drivers console. "Coolant Fault Error - Seek Immediate Repair". It happened twice over the course of two mornings. On the first occurrence, I thought "This is way out of the blue, just an OS Glitch, reboot." In both cases was on a first start in the morning and a hard-reboot cleared the error (and generated the fault logs). After the second occurrence, I contacted Rivian Service (on 4/9), and that afternoon, the Canton Service Center (closest to me) requested I bring the R1T in and gave me a drop-off appointment for the morning of 4/10. The customer parking lot as PACKED; R1T's, R1S's and Amazon delivery vans everywhere! It was HOPPING!!!
I got there, the technician, Lance, listened to the sound (I was not imagining it!), he opened up the cowling in the frunk and the noise escalated. They took the R1T in for the repair and I was given a loaner for the duration.
The coolant degas bottle and related connections had come loose and/or broke. From what the intake representative told me, the coolant part in question may have had a defect in it from the part manufacturer.
Canton Service Center was exceptional; Lance hit the issue immediately, and Bria kept me informed of the progress along the way. My truck was ready for pick up this morning. It was nice to be back in my R1T this morning and use UHF for the drive home.
I know there has been some grousing on this forum about service centers around the country, but I have to say, this was the third experience I've had going to the Canton MA location since it opened, and it has been consistently superb!
Great job, team and great job Rivian!
