I didn't even recognize it as a "pedestrian warning sound" to begin with, I thought it was just a cooling fan or some other system until I actively heard it turning on and off the other day.
FWIW, I am rarely outside of my truck when it goes into gear, and for once I had the windows down when I shifted it into gear and finally noticed the whooshing sound.

Too late, judgement has already been passed. But I'll keep most of my comments to myself as you wouldn't like the sound of that either.
Since your location indicates Mt Olive, I will ask that you please keep your Rivian out of Morristown. As home to the oldest guide dog school in the US, there are a lot of visually impaired people out and about who will no longer have the benefit of the pedestrian warning sounds that are required, by law, for their safety.

Didn't even notice that Rivian has a pedestrian warning system. If it has one, I can't tell from within the cab even with the windows open. Should I be hearing it loudly?

Not really anymore. One of the earlier updates really cut the sound; it was nearly unbearable before. That said, the noise in reverse is still quite loud, and certainly noticeable with the windows down for me...
