I was unhooking my boat trailer today after a fishing trip. The ball stuck on the hitch (old heavy trailer) and I tried to wiggle the truck (like I used to do with the Silverado which preceded the Rivian) to release the pressure so the trailer would release the ball…

It worked…too well. With little clearance to the hitch, The tip of the tongue popped the backup camera up into the plastic housing over the license plate. The good news is that the camera is working. The bad news is that it’s now looking thru a peep hole. The camera housing looks low it should come off, but it doesn’t. Right now my plan is to make a hole in the plastic behind the license plate so I can get a finger in there and reseat it.

ideas?

I was told by Rivian the full front facia would have to be removed to access the front camera and the rear bumper would need to be removed for the back camera. I am having mine replaced. I've never tried to reach under.

I’ve fixed it, a bit of a “jackleg” repair. I didn’t want to take the bumper off, and thought I could make it workable without paying Rivian to do it. After looking, I could tell that I couldn’t come up from the bottom as I originally thought,, so I carefully pushed the camera back from its peephole, cut the plastic peephole housing, pulled the camera out, and glued it all back together. Left/right aliment is good, but the angle is down a bit too much, but it’s quite usable, and invisible unless you get down and stare at it…

I will use a hitch extender now when I pull a trailer ?

Is your 360 camera stitching weird now?
