Try using PREMIUM gasoline instead of REGULAR.....works every time to get rid of engine knock under hard acceleration.
I, personally, only use premium Top Tier+ organic low-detergent electrons!

Those premium electrons are even better than premium gas.:like:

Well, not very positive ... I hope mine will be fine with half-shaft replacements and adding washers...
Rivian needs to look at the half-shaft issue in general and redesign them. So many complaints about knocking when accelerating/decelerating, etc.
Mine's been doing it for a long time and hasn't seemed to have gotten much worse, besides now having the noise on both left and right turns. At first it was just left turns. I'll eventually be worried about something blowing up if it progresses to be more harsh.

I have the same noise. Happens only from a stop on hard acceleration with suspension in high. Sound is coming from the rear of the truck. Have a n appt next month.

My R1T QM is in SC for the same issue. They replacing half shafts, and front motors (gear lash, knocking when accelerating/decelerating). But from what I hear, this is a design flaw of half shafts, that allow a wide range of height...

Mine mostly do this noise when I am in conserve mode and accelerate. So it comes from front half shafts

I think my front drivers half shaft is also doing the same thing

SC looked at it twice and said it was similar to test R1S gen2 they had :/ but it’s only getting worst lately

hope they get better half shaft revisions
@suprteck let us know how your appointment goes.

High suspension under hard acceleration will do that. Seattle SC just said to not be in high. I had all kinds of suspension rattle in my Gen1. My Gen2 is already developing the same after only 1000 miles of driving it. I think its mechanical in nature (halfshafts, hubs/knuckle, etc.) but I suspect its also a bit electronic, like they could fix some of this with OTA.

That video to me is just strain on the halfshaft due to the angle with it lifted.

@kyledmb for me it happens also in standard height front driver side. (0 to 60 run)
doesn’t happen in low or lowest as pointed out due to angle of the half shaft.

I hope they develop newer half shaft that doesn’t have this issue, car is perfectly quiet otherwise for me. the knocking/vibration is very noticeable, and only getting worst.

Do you have the 22" wheels?

Totally agree on this halfshaft. It's way more that just a noise. It makes the whole vehicle feel sloppy and like its about to fall apart. Super harsh, too.

@kyledmb yes the 22” Sport with all-season performance tires.
does that have to do with the issue much?

More of a working theory I'm testing out. I just switched out to the OEM 20" ATs to see if that helps slow the process. My first 1000 miles were glorious with this Gen2. Since then I noticed a steep decline in ride quality (more harshness/jarring), increase in suspension noise (rattling and clunking), and a decline in steering feel/responsiveness. I notice that when going over imperfections in the road, the truck feels much less solid in my hands than originally.

Such a weird and disturbing phenomenon.

Out of curiosity is this a 3rd party dashcam recording? If I understand correctly the built-in Rivian recordings don't have audio, correct? If that's the case I guess I'm hooking up a dashcam when my R1S comes in.

Same issue. Gen1 R1T on 20" ATs. The sound only appears in high suspension setting when accelerating at >70% power. The SC said it's normal and didn't do anything about it.
