knocking noise from driver door

this is driving me nuts and was hoping that someone may have a solution- I'm pretty far from a service center and wait times are long, so I was hoping to do something about it myself. there is a noticeable thumping/knocking noise whenever I start or stop with some sort of momentum. when I gently start or stop, the noise isn't there. its clearly coming from somewhere inside the driver door or the b-pillar right behind it. yesterday, as I was driving, I was able to put a finger between the flashlight and the b pillar and was able to feel the thump/knock as I heard the noise. I took the flashlight out, but the sound was still there. I also shook the door while it was open, I can't get it to the reproduce the noise. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have the same issue but from the passenger side, not what it is, I put a ticket in with the service center.

I literally had a loose screw (ha ha, no really) inside the driver's side rear door of my R1T as delivered. You could shake the door and hear the little f*cker rolling around inside. Mobile tech service fixed it easy peasy, but that being said taking off the door cards isn't THAT hard to do if you want to check inside...

I have the knock, too. It almost sounds as if the entire door shifts, like it is not properly aligned or a door bolt/check strap is loose.

Had the same problem - the service center ultimately diagnosed it as an "internal door latch failure"; they disassembled the door and replaced the latch.

What was your resolution? This started happening the other day in my ‘24 R1T. Everything seems to work fine, but that thumping sound is irritating. It’s only happened for me sporadically, usually after locking or unlocking.

@123Dallas…any update? Started happening again this evening. Just wondering if it’s worth getting a mobile tech out, or if I can wait for my 7,500mi.

Unfortunately it can’t be done via mobile and needs to go in to the service center. He mentioned loose wiring inside the b pillar. I have my service scheduled for later this month so hopefully they’ll be able to address it there. Good luck!

Hey! I know this thread is old but I’m having the same exact sound in my 24 Gen 1. It’s been there for an entire year but it only happens occasionally so it’s been super hard for me to figure out. Can you update on if the issue got fixed and what the service center ultimately did? Thanks!

Still have not been able to get this issue resolved. I have another visit scheduled. So far the door panel and b pillars have been inspected and door hinges replaced, but the noise is still there. Now the noises are more frequent and comes from both sides of the front door. This is ruining my everyday driving experience because I hear it every time I start/stop and make a sharp turn. Will let you know if there is a resolution.
