I've had my Quad G1 R1S since June. It's been "in service" for 3 out of those 6.5 months.

For those 3 months in service, they probably worked on the vehicle for 1-2 weeks. I could always tell when they were actually working on it because they would post updates on the app for the service line items. I also have a lease - I like driving it, but I am absolutely glad I will be giving this thing back.

The biggest issue, which sounds like you might have as well, is this thing whistles at 40+ mph. In comparison, my wife's Yukon has much better sound dampening and quality control.

The kicker? No loaner. Let me clarify: I did have a loaner for 2 days (also G1 Quad R1S), but that thing dumped its hydraulic fluid in my driveway and died shortly after I picked it up. Been driving a 2024 GMC Terrain around for 3.5 months...

Good luck.
A GMC Terrain? That doesn’t seem like a vehicle that is “equivalent” to the R1S,

Apparently I got the spec that doesn't have working windshield washers! :)
Do you hear a noise any output of liquid at all? Our R1S barely had any fluid come out. They came to my garage and fixed it. Said it is common for the line to get pinched under under the hood within the plastic cover. I didn’t watch him though to see how complex to remove.

They just send you to Enterprise and you get whatever crap they have over there. I got a last gen model 3 base that looks like it went through WW2 with 12k miles that I've been driving for over a month.

Rivian really needs to just provide customers with an identical loaner since they’re keeping customer vehicles for weeks sometimes months on end. If I have an R1S, then provide that as a loaner. We spec’d our dog crate, on board refrigerator/freezer, and roof gear specifically for the R1S; an R1T doesn’t work. We bought the R1S to actually carry a lot of gear on long distance road trips, not just for running errands around town.

You definitely need to talk the your local sc advisor and get it escalated to urgency safety issue much like HVAC problems. Schedule it first on the app then call and ask to be transfer to your local sc and discuss about moving up

In theory driving around a cheapo rental sedan for a couple of days wouldn't be a big deal. The issue is that SCs are completely incompetent and my vehicle has been in for 30+ days for a "should be ready the next day" fix with no end in sight. So I am basically trapped into driving this random rental and can't even take my dog anywhere because the rental agreement said no pets.

I also can't move forward with buying a new vehicle until Rivian approves the lemon buyback which is going to take god knows how long (to be honest I don't even think the SC sent the escalation up) so I am in a crappy situation right now.

Local SC agreed to bump me up in priority and offered an appointment early next week. Hopefully it's a quick fix.

I'm glad. If you ever have Hvac issue, tell them you have small kids. It will move up immediately :)

Rivian should have at least put you into an equivalent R1 loaner by now. What is wrong with your R1?

South SF SC is a disaster, they probably don't have anything available. The issue is just a vibrating steering wheel at highway speeds they can't seem to iron out. Which is ironic because I have 0 other quality issues with the vehicle unlike a lot of the users on here but I really can't continue to own something with this level of service.

I was able to do a bit of debugging today on my windshield washers. When I try to activate them with the hood closed I get nothing, but I hear what sounds like a motor trying to spray something, and the wipers move. But when I try to activate them with the hood raised, I get some weak dribbling of fluid out of the nozzles. Looks like there is a kinked hose that carries the washer fluid from the tank up to the nozzles. Still getting nothing at all from the rear washer though, not sure what's going on there. Hopefully this is a quick fix for Rivian.

But looking at how the fluid cable runs from the tank up to the sprayer nozzles just seems like a bad design and a recipe for problems. Why would you put the nozzles on the underside of the piece of the hood that is hinged and moves every time you open the hood? I think every other car I've ever seen has the nozzles located in the non moving area of the front of the car, such that there is not a need to route a fluid hose through a hinge!

That’ll get fixed in Gen 3.

Rivian service was able to fix my windshield washers(hoses not properly connected and kinked) and passenger side road noise(window was not calibrated). They had the car a little over a day. Still leaves a sour taste in the mouth that these things weren't addressed prior to delivery, but I'm thankful that they were able to complete the work quickly.

Now have to wait another 2 months for them to address the more cosmetic issues....

Update on my old thread. Car has been in service now for 2 weeks for the cosmetic defects that were present at delivery. No idea when I will get it back. It took 1.5 weeks before they moved the car from the Rivian service center to the PPF company location. The service appointment has been scheduled for >3 months and they've known about the PPF issues. Why couldn't they have lined up the PPF company to do their work on the first day the car was in for service? Do they just wait until cars are on the service center lot before figuring out what work needs to be done and only then make arrangements for how to schedule the work?
