Rivian Reopens 1930s Theatre As First Flagship Retail Location

Few of us on the forum that live in OC have registered/RSVP'd for pre-opening presentation on the evening of the 8th (next Friday).

Looking forward to seeing what they have done to the place. When it was the Southcoast Theater, I remember going there years ago to see Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight with bunch of friends....

There are people with style who work for Rivian. That comes through in their design ethos and their choice of spaces. It's a different take than Tesla, which thrives on grandiosity and ridiculousness. So even though I am a little salty that the Cybertruck is better at the metric I care most about, speed, I don't think I could be seen in one. It's not me, not my aesthetic.

I got the invite at 100pm but didn’t see it until 530pm and the event is already “at capacity”. #sad

Definitely let us know how it goes and I can run down there with the family virtually any nice weekend once they’re fully open. Super excited to have this space near me and I’m not entirely sure why.

The hype might have just saved you from the pain of parking/traffic in that area.

Re: speed - production vs non-production, not a fair comparison. Bosch and Enduro motors are likely governed for a variety of reasons and with 4 of them in the quad, a simple keystroke combo by a Rivian engineer could unlock another 20 to 40 hp per motor and whoop the Cybersuck's ass.

Yeah we do know in testing the R1 was faster and they throttled it back.

If you know where to park in Laguna Beach, it's not a problem at all. Just need to walk few blocks.

I spent 20 years in so cal, that is a really nice spot for Rivian. I plan on visiting next year, about a mile away is one of my favorite mountain biking spots.
