About 1,000 miles into my new 2026 R1T (love it!) and I get an alert that's stating "Left wing camera not working". it appears to be fine when I look at the cameras though. I tried all of the normal troubleshooting, i.e. reboot system, infotainment, etc. Message persists. Anyone else run into this and if so, what was the solution?

I have a SC appointment for this next week. Check for water in the camera. Did you recently wash the car? There is a seal issue with these that can allow water to penetrate.

Mine was wonky from day 1. Think it’s a known/common issue.
Worked intermittently, sometimes a restart (soft or hard) would make it work but not always.
They replaced it last month under warranty and it’s worked fine since (fingers crossed).

I've had the same error message for the last month or more, and simultaneously the assisted cruise control was not working at all. Also (possibly related, not sure) - the auto-dimming brights function on the headlights was not working - would not dim when oncoming cars approached.

The mobile service guy was here for some other recall work a couple weeks ago, and he was unable to fully diagnose or fix it. He thought it may be a loose connection but also said it would require recalibration of the camera which has to be done at a service center. I've got an appt at the end of Jan to bring it to Colorado Springs to get this fixed.

The latest software update seems to have improved things a bit as I can now at least use cruise control to set the speed, but it keeps telling me I need to keep my hands on the wheel. And at least as of the last couple days the auto-dimming feature seems to be working again.

I just had the left wing camera not working error show up yesterday. resets haven't fixed it. It was in the SC last week for no heat. Guess it will be going back.

My R1S is in the shop now for this issue. It appeared 2 months ago and after finding this thread a month ago and saw mention of water, I could clearly see a drop of water sitting in the lens. I assume it occurred after getting a carwash, but not positive. They are replacing the camera module, but unsure if it’s a revised part and will still have water ingress in the future.

Fixing this camera requires replacing the entire mirror which is kinda crazy to me. I had to have this done a few months ago (and now the left mirror has a meeeaaaannn whistle above 50mph).

The problem was water ingress.

Similar came up in other threads: the days of replacing individual parts are long gone. Assemblies are produced by or supplied to OEMs as complete units. Headlights and taillights for example, instead of replacing bulbs, you'd be replacing entire assemblies complete with new LEDs and PCBs. Consolidation for sake of manufacturing efficiency ends up costing consumers more.

I suppose some enterprising individual could make a career/business out of refurbishing assemblies out of parts from salvaged ones, but that's hands-on labor. They'd have to refurb and sell a lot to make it worthwhile (without setting high prices for each unit).

Aside from the wing camera issue, I’m also having a door rattle be addressed (for the 3rd time?) and during the ride-along with the tech to reproduce the noise, I asked how long he thinks it will take to get the camera fixed and he said replacing the camera/mirror is fast, it’s the calibration that’s time consuming. Makes sense, but also makes me nervous when my R1S is out of warranty and I can’t just get another wing camera off eBay and call it good - will still need to pay for a calibration.
