Locking and unlocking noises while driving

Hi there
I have a May 23 production date R1S and notice when I am driving and come to a stop I hear what sounds like locks locking or unlocking and then again when car is in motion. Anyone else?

I suspect it is the classic tic-tok axle spline slop many have. All 4 of mine do it.

Rivian has a fix supposedly. Involves pulling the axles and installing a washer and then putting it back together and higher torque spec for axle retention bolts.

Do you have auto ride height enabled? Turn off auto ride height and see if it stops making these noises.

My air compressor always seems to be adjusting at stops even when it’s not in auto ride height.

I have this. Does it sound like metal clinking/slapping together? I believe it’s the magnetic drive engagement mechanisms (don’t know what they are really called). But this started with mine around 10k miles and happens all the time. A little annoying but hopefully harmless.

this would be the most logical explanation. Others have good theories also. If it isn't clearly this I will disable auto ride height and see if different. I do love that auto hold feature.

yep. It’s the valves/solenoids etc that are managing your suspension. Working as designed. It’s just that it’s not a quiet design. Mine have done this since I picked it up. I thought it was an issue but tech told me it’s normal.
