+1 to cross bar whistle. Well established complaint in other threads. Some have stuffed foam weather stripping along the t-track with success - cosmetically invisible if you absolutely want the look of crossbars on even when not in use.

+1 to having quarter panel adjusted or replaced. I “proved” it to my SC by package taping a report binder plastic strip (these) along the front edge of the trim between the main driver window and quarter pane. This reduced the noise by 90%. They replaced the quarter panel and noise practically is gone.

My R1S has really bad wind noise in the cabin. At first I thought maybe it’s just not an aerodynamic vehicle. But I’ve driven big cars like Expedition and Rovers that are not aerodynamic and all much quieter. I recently got my car back from service and notice a whistling sound. Almost like a sound the kettle makes. I have a ticket for service. I’m wondering if anyone else had this issue? And is loud cabin just a Rivian build quality thing?
I have the same issue with my R1T. I initially had them replace a trim but i could still hear wind on the highway and I noticed my passenger window doesn’t fully go into the seal. I literally have to take a microfiber towel and as I roll it up- push the window so it goes into the rubber trim piece . I’m going in Friday with a slew of other fixes that the Dallas service center is fixing including the very suspicious red steering wheel icon w exclamation point that is randomly showing up .

Any pictures of how you installed the binder plastic strip? Curious to try this out.

I didn’t take a picture. Sorry. I just trimmed one of those plastic report binders at an angle so it fit snug right up against the divider between the main driver window and quarter pane. I then used 1.5” wide clear packing tape along the entire length. Be sure to fold over a little corner of the packing tape to make removal easier. Hope it helps isolate your noise issue.

My R1S has the loudest cabin wind noise of any vehicle I've owned (except for a 1966 Ford Mustang). Removing cargo bars helps, but it's still very annoyingly loud. I turned on adaptive sound, so the radio volume will automatically increase as I speed up. That helps a little. ?‍♂
I took some family around in the R1S. They were so surprised on how loud the vehicle was with the wind noise. They said they have rode in other EVs and are much quieter. Is Rivian just bad compared to other EV? Need to bring this up to service but I’m sure they will just tell me that is how the car is.

This has been my experience with my R1T and a loaner R1T. Very loud cabin wind noise. Some report dead quite. It’s hard to believe based on my experience especially with SC claiming it’s normal..

check to see if one of your windows is just slightly opened and needs "calibrating" from the service center. That happened to me and was an easy fix.

My S is dead quiet, with just the whir on motor noise.. I need to get my drivers door adjusted, and the drivers front fender... I am really hesitant to do it for fear that I will loose my dead quiet!

My S is so loud. I will have to get the service center to check. They better not blame it on the cross bars. Because when I removed the cross bar, it is still very very windy. This is with the windows up. Perhaps a misaligned door or something?
