I’m mainly using snow mode for low regen. I’m more worried about patches of black ice then snow.
Well, there's part of your answer for your big range hit lol.

Some Range Rovers have a 27.5 gallon tank and get 23 highway. That's 632 miles of highway range. A Grand Cherokee 4WD will get 598 miles EPA highway. A Highlander hybrid will do 595 miles highway. A Yukon XL Turbo-Diesel has a 38 gallon tank and gets 26 highway in 4WD, for an astonishing 988 miles!

The R1 has great performance. Much better than those SUVs. I would love to trade that for more range. That much acceleration in such a heavy vehicle is actually fairly dangerous to others, and to my own aging neck!
Its been a very long time but my last GC did not get anywhere near that sort of range.
That is quite the range on the Yukon but definitely not capable off road, I think the new ones have like 5" of ground clearance under the long lower control arms.
Yes many would tale a 30-50% hit in performance for an equal benefit to range if it only worked that way.
Its the slowing down & getting back into lane that I found most frightful.

I am at 1.91 mi/kWh with 20” AT in snow mode. which is right around my lifetime efficiency when using sport mode and all purpose mode.

I’ll take 1.91 mi/kWh with low regenerative braking all day long in 19 degree temps.

It stays in my garage, so while it’s there it’s cool but warmer than outside. I rarely “pre warm” before driving.
We haven't ordered our R1T yet, but always pre-condition our Tesla Model 3, 2020. Everything I have read and heard is that pre-conditioning helps prolong battery life and improves efficiency. I think it is pretty cool that I can do that for my car.

Really many SUV's get 600-700miles to a tank? Seems like most of them are glorified station wagons.
I am not aware of too many off-road capable SUV's that get that sort of range,
My Tundra officially has a range of 20 mpg X 25 gal = 500 miles. I’ve never seen 20 mpg. Most people buy 4wd and have a range of 450.

Road and Track’s “most popular” 2024 suv is a Bronco which seems to have a range of 20.8 mpg X 15 gal = 332 miles.

My 2015 highlander used to be our road trip car. Claimed 24mpg and 400 mile range. I was lucky to 20mpg and 300 mile range. Didn't really matter for range since I like stopping before 300 miles. Guess that's why stopping to charge in my R1T doesn't bother me at all.

What year is your Tundra? Mine was ready for the $ station at 300 miles with approx 4 gallons left in the tank.

That puts the Bronco pretty much on par with the R1S, with way less road performance.

2013. Agreed that I would never intentionally run a gas tank to 0 gallons, so the effective range is different. By a 4-gallons left standard, the Bronco has a range of just 250.

If you have a 25-gallon tank, did you really only get 300 miles from the first 21 gallons, highway? That's just over 14 mpg, which I easily get with mostly city driving. I do get 17-18 mpg if I'm just driving highway miles.

Same capacity, mixed city/hwy (65mph) live on a mtn.

I would say the range on QM Rivian on 20" is about 80% of what my Tundra would get under similar conditions. That would shrink or disappear if the Tundra had the same 34" tires

The Rivian uses an alarming amount of energy when messing around in the snow after a big dump.

ICE vehicles “disappear” 70% of the energy paid for in gas, while also seeing degraded cold weather performance.

Oh, also gas spoils.
Totally untrue. Lost 1mpg today on a 250mile drive in -5 degree. I didn't dare take the R1S. Gas spoils?? Only if you leave it sit in the tank for months on end.
