I’m wondering how many of us May/June deliveries have OC interior and maybe we are batched by OC?

I feel that the May / June delivery group is the left over of the launch edition R1Ts. OC, FE and what’s left of the BM interior.

Very few deliveries according to the forum tracker and not a single interior color other than black mountain. Hopefully the slowdown is them pausing to fix some of these quality issues…
Define ‘quality problems’. I’ve got less problems with my R1T after 2.5 weeks then I’ve had with a majority of Big 3 automakers over the years.

Numbers are from memory - browse the forum it’s all here. I’ll try to post some links when I have time.

Out of the 100 deliveries on the forum we’ve had several suspension faults (including a Nhtsa bulletin) 2 critical battery issues, 1 vehicle damaged before delivery, 2 vehicles leaking fluid and I believe 2 completely bricked vehicles. About 5-10% of deliveries are in the category of major.

Outside of that we have had 1 striped paint, 1 scraped and chipped paint, and 5+ with major gap issues. We’ve had maybe 10+ people experience infotainment / audio freezing. There are various other issues (key vicinity, etc)

Agree with what you are saying...however, look at other long standing manufacturers quality Honda's ability to keep an infotainment system functional? VW's ability to keep infotainment chips working. Look at the fact Ford Mach E had recalls for removing and reinstalling windshield and adding more adhesive to glass roof? No manufacturer is perfect and as I like to say - We all signed up with a new company with a new vehicle with new technology. We are in essence Beta testers for the product as well as the delivery of the product. In today's world, due to market pressures, etc...nothing will be perfect. Sucks we have to accept that.

Great points you brought up btw.

Oh, I didn't say that I expected more out of the first 1,000 deliveries from a new company, nor that they weren't fixing them, but it seems to me that several of these were caused by relatively small items (not tightening something, forgetting to put a piece on, etc) that seem like they can be greatly reduced by adjusting quality assurance protocols. I am hopeful they are working on some of those things now. I'll guarantee you that Rivian is not happy with a 5% major issue rate.

That said, I'm not coming into this with a history of issues with vehicles. I'm a long-term vehicle driver and the only issue I've had is a fuel pump in a 10+ year old vehicle in the last 20+ years so perhaps I'm in for a shock if vehicle quality has in-fact declined in the last decade.

Unfortunately vehicles are becoming more and more complex, which results in more and more issues. Not to mention all of the abnormalities at OEM's due to COVID, part shortages, man power issues, etc.....all of these lead to unfortunately more and more issues with vehicles as well.

With our Volvo XC40 Recharges....mine seems to be relatively perfect, but my wife's is more "touchy" than my car. I then go on the forums and people are having issue after issue on their vehicles, but for the most part, our Recharges have been rock solid. It seems to be the luck of the draw with some of these.

Long story short....with a new OEM and a new EV OEM to say the least.....you better get ready for a fun ride. Just hope you get one of the "good" ones. haha.

I went on the Rivian website and chatted with a customer service rep who verified my April/May window but no word from a guide. The lack of communication and me constantly having to reach out does not make for a warm and fuzzy feeling!

CS really has no idea. They were telling people their delivery October delivery dates were still on schedule for the last week of October last year.

I have a Guide, and can't get any timeline on our order as they don't have any visibility on timeline until it factory gates (vehicle has completed production, meaning your vehicle has come off the factor line). Other R1S orders later than ours with delivery estimates later than ours received their PBA's over the last couple days. No idea how Rivian is deciding on what batches to build and match the order to a VIN.

Guess we just need to wait it out.

You're probably correct, I also mentioned to the CS chat person that I read on the forum that OC interior would delay delivery and was told not to believe rumors you read on the forums....Anyway I just learned from this forum that Illinois will have a $4,000 EV rebate (if funded) on purchases after 7/1 so I will now delay delivery until then.

I get why they say that, but who’s had the better track record so far, forum naysayers or CS?

I was originally May-June window. My truck is en route now from Normal for delivery this evening.
As another Kentuckian, that's great news! I'm hoping I can get mine by my birthday near the end of next month.
