Just reached out to Michelin:
CUSTOMER: Will you be producing part number 43596 (275/55/21 defender LTX M/S2) any time soon? For US market
Agent: May I just know if you are in the US or Canada?
CUSTOMER: US
Agent: Thank you. We do not have tires with the MSPN 43596 and we do not have Defender LTX M/S2 in size 275/55R21.
CUSTOMER: Thank you! There’s conflicting info around on some tire sites about that tire so wanted to check with y’all
Agent: You are welcome. We have multiple Michelin - Defender LTX M/S2 sizes scheduled to be released on June and July 1 week. However, we do not have plans to release 275/55R21 for now.

Just placed a preorder for these on tirerack. Representative has confirmed around 07/09 release. I have been buying from tirerack for over 15 years and never had issues with preorders or tires not being released as stated.

How exactly were you able to pre-order? I can't find the option on their site.

Go to their website and click on the right hand button where it says live chat and ask to pre-order this tire and they will ask for your credit card etc and send you confirmation.

I just called Tirerack. Rep said I could pre order and would have to pay for them now. The estimated delivery date has been pushed back to mid or late July. They do not list the tire on their site. You have to call them or use the chat function to order. I wonder why when I contacted Michelin a few days ago they told me they had no info about a tire in that size being produced? What does Tirerack know that Michelin does not know?

I just had a lengthy conversation with a Michelin rep who was able to find a reference to a Defender 275-55-21 tire. It is now in preproduction but will not be available until fall of 2024. That was the best info she could provide. The 275-50-21 will be available in July of 2024. So maybe Tirerack is a little confused about the availability date. I think I will wait for the tire to be listed as available before I order it. Now I have to try to stretch out my OEM tires a few more months or I will have to entertain the purchase of 20 inch wheels. That would give many more options for tires. The Michelin 21 inch in the 55 size tire has a part number and it's 43596. The lady did tell me if I called back with questions to use that part number and it will be easier for the rep to get info as needed.

My rep didn't charge me and says once the tires arrive and get shipped out I will be billed.

Got updated email from tirerack that the tires have been pushed back to July 29th so i am assuming we won't even get these till fall.

I think I’m going to go with the Michelin defenders in 275/50/21 since it’s just 3% smaller. It seems like a 32” tire would fit the car better looking at it from the side. 113 load rating is rated for 10k pounds and should work.

If you can get someone to install them…

If I was Michelin, I’d scrap these knowing the refreshed R1s won’t have 21s anymore.
Yup, I hope my tires last for the duration of my lease because replacing these in 2 years will be a pain.
