My Rivian guide reply: I just got word that the VIN that was matched to you had major damage. I am going to work on getting you unmatched and matched to a new VIN.

Did anyone here had similar issue with Rivian Delivery?
I have been waiting since 02/21/2019 and now I saw this from Rivian guide.
Very frustrated with Rivian's deliveries

Frustrating, but would you rather take delivery of a damaged vehicle?

It didn't happen to me, but it has happened. At least one R1T got involved in an accident in the Seattle area pre-delivery (when it was on a flatbed in transit). This does happen to all automakers but it's hard to know if it is a big problem without having the data for how often.

Frustrating situation, but as these care are moved about, they sometimes get damaged. At least the guide was up-front about it and hopefully they can find you another pretty quick.

It has happened before, and will happen again, nothing you can do about it. I'd wager they'll have another vehicle for you in a week to two weeks possibly.

I have seen other's taken deliveries of the cars that was ordered much later than I ordered mine. Not sure why Rivian is not following the order by the reservation date :(

My delivery driver backed into a tree with my truck on the flatbed when it was being delivered. They fixed it a few weeks later though so it was really no big deal.

Truck was down for twoish weeks but I had a Rivian loaner in that time so I was fine with it.

At least Rivian was transparent with you.

Transit damage happens more often than we think. I am also on a Raptor forum and some of the damaged in transit stories are amazing. Vehicle fires, trucks falling off the transporter while backing down the ramp, etc.

The vehicles are transported by 3rd parties via rail and truck.

We were taking delivery of our Tesla Y performance. It had a significant flaw in the paint and we refused delivery. We received our new one two weeks later and 5000 less.

Yeah it sucks that this happened. The positive thing is that an unscrupulous dealer may have tried to repair and deliver the car to a customer. Rivian was transparent with you and should be commended for that.

Ask for R1 Shop access while they try to match you to another vehicle. I asked and they gave me access because I knew it would be longer than I wanted to wait for the same config.

This has been discussed extensively. Rivian had been batching production to make things move more efficiently on the line, depending on things such as interior colors, wheels, etc. that might be on hand at any given time. We know that they had and are still having some supply constraint issues. At one point certain wheels were not available. Should they shut the entire factory down for a week or a month, waiting for the backordered wheels that are needed for your build, just to ensure that they stick to the reservation date sequence so that you don't feel left behind? Of course not.

Now factor in shipping backlogs, shipping time, backlogs at Service Centers, customer caused delays due to financing, insurance, etc. etc. and it should be pretty easy to see why orders get filled out of reservation date sequence. And yes, there is probably the occasional scheduling screw up by Rivian, but that's not the primary cause.
