NACS Adapter - still waiting...

Confirmed pending shipping in my Rivian account. Service called yesterday for a trim piece recall. Shipping Monday…and wife and I will be enjoying my 50th in Maui the upcoming week. It will be a birthday surprise when I get home. VIN #9150. 2 years exactly after purchase.

Service did say low 9000s we’re currently shipping.

If it's correct that Rivian has to date sent out about 9,000 adapters, that means they have quite a long way to go. My disappointment is not that they are having difficulty getting the adapters into the hands of Rivian owners - much of that is outside of their control - but rather that at least some elements within the company continue to communicate unrealistic deadlines.

It would be nice to get something official from Rivian that provides useful and reasonably accurate information on the status of adapter fulfillment. Given that there are many other much more important challenges for the company (delivery targets, QA issues, service center backlogs to name a few), it's understandable that the subject is not a priority. On a related note, it does neither the company nor its customers any good for Customer Service to continue to crank up the Sunshine Machine and float August as the deadline.

I suspect for those who have taken delivery only recently, like me, the wait will be very long, likely more than a year. If you have a more immediate need for the adapter, there thankfully is an alternative; actually, at least two alternatives.

The first batch of adapters seemed to cover around vin 2500 for the R1T, it's not based on VIN specifically, just a reference point. The second batch seems to be up to around the 9k vins based on comments here, that's a huge jump in production output (~2500 vs ~6500), hopefully this is an indication that production is scaling.

The following is purely speculation

It feels like the adapters were a last minute item for the supercharger network to push additional adoption to try to qualify the supercharger network for funds. It's also possible they have been waiting on materials/machinery to scale production at the Buffalo factory, one can hope...

I picked up an A2Z Typhoon (non pro) and have had great success charging, albeit a bit throttled in this summer heat.

Not sure how the adapters are last minute. These supercharger access deals were announced over a year ago and Tesla was already building adapter for the magic docks. They could have easily ramped up production last year and had a lot of adapters waiting. But they chose not to and are slow rolling them out.

I just received notice today that my NACS DC Adapter is ready to ship, and that I should receive it within 60 days.

R1T delivered 9 Sep 2022; Vin# 11,3XX.

Edited: I just received my NACS DC Adapter today on 8 Aug 2024. Hope this may give others a better idea how quickly theirs may ship.

I just received and responded to “Your NACS DC Adapter is ready to be shipped“ email. Deliveries seem to be picking up. Ours was an October 2022 delivery. Just last week it seemed they were on July/August 2022 as per this thread.

What have been other’s experience been on how long from confirming to when it ships?
