A small Canadian EV adapter manufacturer has started shipping their Tesla Supercharger NACS to CCS adapter. You cannot use this adapter yet since Tesla hasn't turned on non Tesla access to non-Magic Dock Tesla Superchargers YET. The manufacturer states that their adapter WILL work with V3/V4 Tesla Superchargers as soon as Tesla grants Rivian access to their network (expected in March?).

This adapter is obviously not a Rivian or Tesla branded adapter. I personally believe this manufacturer has done their due diligence and it will work, but I suggest only the adventurous who can afford to part with $200 actually buy this at this point in time.

The advantage of buying the adapter now is that you get it before a stampede occurs once the network is turned on.

BTW, any Supercharger to CCS adapter will only work on Tesla V3/V4 stations - the ones that support 250 kW charging. The 72 kW and 150 kW Tesla sites will never work with any adapter. You can find those in Plugshare by setting the filter to only Tesla Supercharger and move the kW slider past 200 kW.

Oh please. A2Z has been turning up the hype to 110% for at least three months now. And they even suckered that State-of-Charge guy to shill for their company.

Bottom line, the A2Z adapter is useless right now, and may never be usable. Waste of money. Rivian has stated they will give us an adapter when the Tesla network opens up to Rivians. Until the network is opened, an adapter won't work. And they're not going to open the network before they can provide the adapters.

A2Z are constantly touting their secret agreements with unnamed car manufactures. If they had something solid and real, they would say it. Until then, this is just noise that is confusing a lot of people into thinking they can charge their CCS vehicle on a Tesla Supercharger. They can't.

Tesla has promised us that this will possible in the future, but it's not possible now. And Tesla has not made public any details about how they will do this, so any third-party that claims to know or claims to have a solution is just blowing smoke.

A2Z makes it very clear you can’t use the adapter right away, so I don’t see how they are confusing anyone. Whatev.

Rivian has already said they would provide existing owners with an adapter. There is no sense in spending your own dime now to buy one that you can’t yet use at superchargers. Lectron has an adapter out too… that you can’t use. So, whoopty-doo.

And yet, if you read all the threads here like I do, you will find dozens, maybe even over a hundred, posts where people have seen the posts from and about A2Z and think the Tesla Superchargers are already open. And *I* have posted a dozen times about how A2Z has a disclaimer that says their adapter "doesn't work" right now, yet I always get pushback all the time saying I'm making things up and they wouldn't be selling it if it didn't work.

Hell, you even said something similar yourself:
Not sure what this A2Z company is all, about since they don’t say they are a Tesla licensee
So I'm sticking with what I said. Adapters don't work right now, and there's no guarantee than any adapter you can buy right now - whether it's A2Z or Lectron - will ever work. Until Tesla actually opens up the supercharger network and demonstrates how that is going to work, we don't even know that a "dumb" adapter is even an option.

Regardless, as I said, we WILL get a free adapter from Rivian (made by Tesla and sold to Rivian at cost according to Elon). There's no way that Tesla is going to open their network before Tesla has adapters ready for sale.

Will Rivian cover damages if one of these alternative adapters is used? I see no reason to pick up any adapter at this point.

-Rivian is supposed to provide one free
-The Rivian adapter will be covered in the event of malfunction.

Tesla is opening things up slowly. Ford/GM and then hopefully Rivian is next. I doubt too many folks are going. To buy an adapter they can't use and that has no clear date when they will be able to use it. When I buy something I want to test it when I get it and be able to return it if it doesn't meet expectations.

Why would anyone buy the mystery adapter for $200 when Rivian has already stated they will be provided for free to existing customers, and future vehicles will have NACS built in?
Also, no adapter is going to make the Rivian charge faster than it can accept a charge so charging at greater than 250 KW charger is a wasted effort .
Sounds like you work for the company or invested in them….

A2Z is also promising a NACS DC extension cord which is somewhat terrifying.

I am assuming that those adapters will maintain Level 1 speed, right?

Seems real sketchy for a company to come out and release/sell a product they know people can't use. For me it would call into question anything else they make/sell.

No reason to buy one. Rivian and Tesla made it clear one will be provided. More details should come in March.

LOLL! Knowing Tom from State of Charge (not personally, but according to his videos and podcasts), he will not review a product that he deems not safe or factual. In one of his podcasts with "Batteries Included", he said that he will not review the Lectron unit as he had a lot of safety concerns about it.
Plus, they are in their rights to promote a product, especially if, as it seems, they are in contact with OEMs. I don't think they would risk any future relationship or their NDAs with OEMs just to make you happy and trust them. Tesla will never endorse them publicly, Tesla does not endorse third party companies. Why? Because they will be providing adapters to other OEMs. Can you imagine one second if Tesla or them say : "Hey this product is approved by Tesla". OEM adapter will not sell, everyone will buy third party, basic logic and economics.
I don't work for them or been paid by them, only been a customer of their company for the past 2 years. They were the first to come out with a CCS1 to Tesla adapter in 2022 and I purchased a level 1 and level 2 Tesla extension cord for my Model X. I drive 100 miles everyday and that adapter has been used more than 100 times without a single issue even when reaching over 200kW in power delivery. Does anyone even understand the basics of EV charging or/and how superchargers work?

I did order the Typhoon for my newly acquired Rivian and if it doesn't work, I will simply return it and ask for a refund, is it complicated? No. I don't understand the negativity around small companies, everyone wants accessibility, innovation and diversity and not everything has to be made by big corporations. You trusted Rivian that literally didn't exist 15 years ago and look at the brand now, why didn't you choose Ford that has been around for 120 years? I had a Model X until yesterday and been sold Tesla since they are "the best EVs" according to so much people, I have been in the cult, trust me. Seeing Rivian having that software bricking 1 month or so ago made almost regret placing an order, but guess what? I was wrong. I love it. 24 hours with the car and I already feel like it's the best vehicle I owned.

We need companies like Lectron, A2Z and more. They push big corporations to innovate and take our daily problems into consideration.

yeah, that's true. Rivian might not honour warranties if third party adapters are used, GM issued a statement regarding that specifically for third party adapters.
