I have never heard this. can you elaborate why this would be more OK?
- charge to 100%; in the winter it isn't a big deal; you just don't want to leave it for a few days in summer heat like that

There's a video by Jeff Dahn that has data to support that a full cold battery isn't nearly as bad as a full hot battery for dendrite buildup/degredation.I have never heard this. can you elaborate why this would be more OK?
Thanks, I'll look it up. I can intuit how that could be true but would love to understand the reasons behind why. There's a video by Jeff Dahn that has data to support that a full cold battery isn't nearly as bad as a full hot battery for dendrite buildup/degredation.
I also don't like to have the battery sitting at 100% for long. That's why for my road trips which needs 100% SoC, I'll adjust the charging schedule to let it just finish charging at around the time I plan to leave in the morning.appreciate the comments from those that understand the objective is skiing, not maximizing range. AT tires, cold temps, snow covered roads and a box to carry gear are fixed variables to accomplish the mission of getting sendy on the mountain. Variables I can/would change are speed, box placement (or addition of a fairing) and starting SOC. Unfortunately I don’t have off street parking which complicates things. I am probably worrying unnecessarily, but I don’t like the idea of charging to 100% the day before then having the car sit with a full SOC all night, my understanding is that’s not good for the battery and making this trip is a weekly ritual in the winter.
The Inno Wedge that I got is already the lowest profile box available from what I can tell. It will barely fit two pairs of skis stacked on top of each other (maybe 10” tall at most), but thankfully is plenty wide to fit the advertised 6-8 pairs in total. I have it mounted as far back as it will go without hitting the lift gate, so I’ll play around with moving it up to achieve more of a teardrop profile overall and see if that makes a measurable difference.
Might require us both to get degrees in battery chemistry. Thanks, I'll look it up. I can intuit how that could be true but would love to understand the reasons behind why.
