.......how many people with an F150/250 that hauls stuff every day, say a work truck, how often are you replacing tires? Cause 2 decades ago, the Ram 2500 I had (over 6100lbs), I don't remember replacing tires any where near as often as what they are stating.
I think weight is just part of the problem. I bet the regen braking also contributes to quick tire wear.

I have the 20" AT and on pace for 25K miles. Rotated them at about 6K miles and have 12K on them now. The SC did the rotation and I assumed it would be 5 wheel, but they just did 4. Previous ICE Vehicle was 400HP RWD with summer tires that averaged about 12-15K miles a set.

What tires did you replace the originals with? The load rating is quite a bit lower than stock, 111 vs 115 (2403 vs 2679 lbs per tire).
Pirelli Scorpion A3(?) at $1304 total ( incl. warranty+tire rotation). Deal was done with Tire Discounters. I will emphasize this one more time…I still have some “life” in older tires and I will continue to use them next year but I want to play safe for the winter with new ones.

I think I found a couple good lightweight 115T 20" replacements for either AS or AT, depending on your poison, that may get good efficiency. I feel dumb. What am I missing here?

They are not 34” - they are 33” which saves some weight. Not sure if OE are LT tires but LT are better for off road than P rated tires. LT are also significantly heavier.

Right, I'm intentionally not looking at LT to save weight in search of efficiency, perhaps not everyone needs aggressive off-road tires. 33" is the same as the 21s and 22s. It just wouldn't read the same in the computer, but the truck would still go forward in Drive, right?

I had a pair of Open Country At tires on my Promaster van which had a similar GVWR and also after my build curb weight. The only thing I can think of is what pressure do these need to be to support a 7k lbs truck. For example on my van it was 65 in the front and 80 in the rear. So possible downside would be ride quality if you need to run them at 65 psi.

Did you have LTs on the van? These are saying 44psi max, but I just noticed the load rating and think I'll stick with Pirellis.

The AT3 have more aggressive tread patterns which go against efficiency. You’re better off going to a Michelin LTX or any other HT type tire.

The LT tires will also give you longer tread wear and can run at lower pressures. You’re also better off driving 60-65mph if you’re looking for pure efficiency. Will save you more than tire choice alone.

Yes I definitely had LT tires on my van. Also actually on second look maybe even a different version of the Toyo Open Country tire.

I've been running a set of the Toyo Open Country AT3's on my Tacoma for the last 3 years. Probably one of the best all around tires I've ever used. On this truck they are rock solid on ice/ snow but who knows how they would perform under a Rivian.

It is to replace my 21" but retain the same diameter. I am expecting efficiency to take a hit, but the overall weight of tire and wheel is within a lb or 2 of the OE 21" setup, so it shouldn't be too bad.

I was wondering if I somehow got the load range E tires by accident, but part numbers match the SL tire, and load E tires are listed at 55 lbs in this size.
Did you ever get these mounted?

The more I think about it, I wonder if the truck would look better with 33s on 20” wheels than the factory 34s. I think the 34s look too stuffed in the wheel wells, making the truck look more slammed down than it is.

Not yet. A buddy of mine is coating the wheels and had some equipment issues. Hopefully after the holidays.

Im at 16k miles and have plenty of tread left.
Damn all you guys have tire tread depth gauges? 😔
New toy on order for me.

I was informed by the SC today my R1T front tires are down to 3/32” and rear tires 5/32”, and that I should consider replacing within the next several thousand miles. It has only has 16k miles on it. I was told it’s not unusual given the trucks weight. I certainly should have had them rotated earlier. Even still I was shocked to realize this is going to be a regular maintenance item at about 20k miles. Is this what others are experiencing as well? I generally drive the truck pretty easy. Once and awhile I push its limits but that’s rare. With winter here I’m looking at a replacement now and that seems crazy. Maybe I just need to realize it’s what comes with having a heavy beast of a truck. Or maybe there are better tires?
