Rivian R1T R1S NEW - OpenSource EV Phone Mount EVO IMG_1665 (1)

Hello my dudes!

Allow me to introduce the new OpenSourceEV Phone Ball Mount EVO. It's the third generation of the best phone mount on the market for the Rivian R1S and R1T. It's designed to tuck in between the gauge cluster and infotainment screen and continues to beheld in place via friction. It installs easily in under 10 seconds and is easily removable.

The Phone Ball Mount EVO improves on the Phone Ball Mount PRO in the following ways:
  1. The ball mounting location is moved upward, to the right, and slightly forward for a better viewing angle which is less obscured by the steering wheel.
  2. The surface area along the rear of the infotainment screen is significantly larger to ensure a tighter, more secure fit.
  3. The ball mount is now modular, allowing for a quick swap between sizes without having to purchase a brand new mount and without having to deinstall the base.
  4. The ball is now secured in place by an M5 x 30MM steel bolt and nut which better supports larger, heavier phones.
The Phone Ball Mount EVO is compatible with all three ball sizes - 17MM, 20MM and 1 Inch. One of these is included, other are sold separately. It retails for $13.95, is available now, and extra sizes of balls will be available shortly for $2.50 each. There is even a special 50% off upgrade offer for Phone Mount PRO owners - check out the order page for details. You can purchase it here: https://opensourceev.com/products/phone-ball-mount-evo

The STL file for this will be posted later today, and spare parts for it, including hardware, per our 1 Year Announcement, will be available shortly as well.

A video is also in the works and will be posted here when complete. for now - here are a few more pictures:

best phone mount ever, super stable even with extension arms.

my setup, 1in ball evo mount, medium ram extension mount, peak design wireless phone charger 1in ball. no vibrations or bouncing i experienced with the older style + long ram arm on rough roads.

best part is that its high enough to be above the majority of screen blocking issues if you didn't have an extension arm. only the lock symbol is blocked when the phone is on

great to see the fine tuning
Congrats on hitting your year mark, that's awesome!

I appreciate that the transition to modular heads changes the print axis and eliminates the box bottom side of the original ball mount design

cheers to another year of cool Open Source projects

How would I go about mounting a magnet from Peak Design?

I see they one one that already has a ball on the back to mount to a 1" holder. I would need an extension that holds a ball on both ends?

Correct - you'll need the following:

1 x https://getoffroam.com/products/offroam-x-peak-design-magnetic-wireless-phone-holder-with-20mm-ball
1 x https://getoffroam.com/products/offroam-double-socket-arm

An alternative in 17MM would be this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C23PQK9Z?th=1 Less premium, but functions similar. Good reviews.

It looks like I'm going to need another day or two to catch up on all of the orders of these so far. This product, along with the Left Mount V2 have led to more orders being placed today than any other day in the store's history.

Thank you all so, so much.

Yinz are great, and this is fun.

I am glad to see that these are in-house now. I had an earlier Phone Ball Mount Pro that melted a month or so ago once the weather got warm (the sub-vendor issue mentioned in your email). I'll have to look at replacing it with the new Evo mount.

Please do. I'm happy to replace it at no cost.

This was the first thing I installed after picking up my R1S today. Worked perfectly with a mag safe charger that was previously mounted on a vent mount in my prior vehicle (https://www.target.com/p/just-wirel...magsafe-charger-car-mount-black/-/A-86373143? ).

Ran power from the OBD port using this guy, which will also be used to power my road top carplay screen when it arrives (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2ZPNX6Z?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details ). I wish it was a little longer (looks like there are longer versions without the switch on amazon as well), but should be fine once I secure it properly (running cord under floor mat). I like having the switch on there to kill the power, even though I think OBD port shuts off after 10 min of getting out anyways.

Thanks for a great product!

Also, this is the Lisen charging phone holder installed on it. Posting to show the rising location and slightly shaded in dark to show the dim charging ring.

A link to the Amazon product page on is the EVO product page. It's on sale right now for $30.
