I'd have long gotten an EV9 if I wanted a 3-row vehicle. It's pretty much perfect for the price and the substantial discounts/lease deals you get. More room, faster charging, and more features than the Tesla (or the R2 for that matter). Cadillac Vistiq is also a very nice competitor in that space that you can get great deals on but it's a higher level and more expensive vehicle.

For anyone considering a Hyundai or Kia, search ICCU. So glad our Ioniq is only a lease.

They have a new ICCU part number since January, so I'd be willing to take a chance on it now.
But I like the Rivian more.

@r2fb Thank you for the information. Hopefully the new part is the one going in next week for me. And hopefully it will last longer than the first version till the lease is up.

Is it the Tesla build quality, lack of luxury or what? What year is your Y?
It's a 2022. It's a good car, and I don't have major complaints with it. No build quality issues. It drives fine. I'd prefer a less-luxury car than both the Y and the R1T, but the market has a shortage of options in those segments.

I have a number of minor nitpicks that drive me crazy, but the R1T has those too. I'm annoyed that the windshield wiper sensors suck and annoyed they disabled the ultrasonic parking sensors to use a crappy vision version. I can't use any type of Autopilot/cruise control in inclement weather.

My perception of Tesla has changed due to a lack of innovation than any product shortcomings. I remember sitting in a Model S demo circa 2013 and thinking it was the most amazing thing ever. It was a genuine tech-forward re-think of what a car could be. I had a similar feeling when the R1 came along, although I could see the through-lines from Tesla.

I look at Tesla today and give a massive "meh". A new one is effectively the same car I've been driving for about 4 years at this point (unless you care about FSD, which I don't). It's just a car with a few quirky design features compared to any other car on the market. I think the other cars on the market are more interesting and I don't feel like I'd be giving up anything important from the Tesla.

Then you are in the wrong forum...Rivian doesn't have CarPlay. I would Google, "forum for cars without a good OS"

Impressive!

They somehow managed to pull off the impossible and have made the rear even more hideous! Might as well write Frigidaire on it 🤮

For every report of "oh no, something is terribly wrong", there's more people picking up their vehicles that are just fine and the people involved just..... go about their lives. Or of others reporting that the quality of the product is great!

In other words, you can't draw many conclusions from a sample size of one negative report.
Yeah, and shit happens. We've owned a lot of vehicles, we've had a couple that had pretty immediate issues - in both cases, resolved in the next day or two - and in both cases never had a single other issue :)

Hahaha, thank you, I was like, "Is this worth the photochop effort ...?" :D

Also, WTF is there a NEW THREAD in the R2 section of the RivianForums about f***ing Tesla? Sure There's been a bit of brand comparison in some threads, but this isn't ShittyTeslaNewsNobodyCaresAbout.com ...

An L isn't any more compelling vs. an R2 than a non-stretched version.
