I'm amazed this isn't a NTHSA requirement already.

It's such low hanging fruit that nobody can complain about. The number of people who don't turn their lights on in rain is ridiculous.
I agree but I'm more concerned about all the idiots driving around with no lights at dusk...or even in pitch dark...

Realistic Items:
  • Grab handles
  • Tailgate height adjustability
  • Tie downs
  • Powered frunk
I agree with all but the powered frunk. I'm good with the existing frunk opening/closing.
  • Make the default trim slightly lower (8" ground clearance?) with an "off-road package" that has a lift.
  • BMW ix3 style HUD
I am all for a choice in fixed ride height, IF it also means better range and tighter road handling for the lowered option.

A HUD would be great, but may be too expensive to be standard equipment, while fine as an option.

And, then, more important to me than all of the above: an FM radio.

1) Door handles with sensors so that it can unlock when you grab the handle, instead of unlocking when you happen to be near the car. My Subaru does this and it's perfect.

2) Air vents with manual controls. This does not need to be a touchscreen item.

3) A dedicated volume knob.

Good suggestions. Here's mine:

1. Rear hatch adjustability (or sensor) I open quite often and don't want to bang into garage door-Geez, I even have this on our 2009 Toyota Venza!
My Honda Passport also has a button inside of rear area that one pushes so hatch will close automatically when you step away from hatch with both arms full of groceries.

2. Electric sunroof cover built into roof.

3. FM radio

I kinda hoped the backlash against the no FM radio would be so severe that in addition the an FM tuner, they'd put a GMRS or CB tuner in a future iteration in for actual... adventure purposes.

You know all those internal corporate memos about the fuel tank location in the Pinto? I think someone at Rivian probably saw the choice to eliminate the FM tuner/antenna the same way I'd look at removing airbags or seat belts in a vehicle marketed as an "adventure vehicle" in that It's going to get people killed. Or maybe not. But someone should have foreseen the problems it is going to cause.

Given the general commentary by people who evidently never needed the NWS in their lives, or have heard anything other than a test of the EBS, I guess I'm not holding my breath any more.

In order of importance, my top 5 I would like would be:

1) FM tuner
2) USB drive reading of external music
3) Oh Shit handle (at least for the passenger side)
4) cargo air vents for the dog
5) confirmation that a front winch can be installed consistent with the 12V under the rear seat and jumper wires that come out the front bumper

The only misses to me are cargo tie downs and grab handles. HVAC in the cargo area makes sense for dog owners, and no one else, so I get the omission.
I have to look hard around my area of the woods for someone who doesn't own a dog or two.

I'd want a bigger battery option....especially for an R2X with tri-motor
