Got this yesterday morning despite having my Rivian phone app open when I jumped in. Watch app was also open.
Closed and reopened phone app a couple times.
Held key to door.
After dicking with all three methods, restarted the display and it finally worked.

First time is almost two years of my Gen1 R1S two years experiencing.

Anyone health experience?

Thoughts?

Check that Bluetooth on your phone is turned on.

I have also been having issues since this latest update. I did a Rivian ctrl-alt-delete and everything seems to be better. 🤞

I've encountered this sporadically over the years and have found the best method for me is just locking and then unlocking again with my phone. That usually does the trick.

If you ask my service center this is "operating as intended". PaaK is awful and does this to me a few times a week. Also does it with the Fob.

I know this did not work for the OP, but yesterday restarting Bluetooth on my phone helped me,

Periodically I’ve noticed this issue, (prior to most recent update). Largely appears to me to be after waking the car in my garage - but other than that, no rhyme or reason

Mine also predominately does it at home, first thing in the morning (great way to start your day huh?).......I'm half convinced that it's getting a half-ass signal through the walls all night and has purposefully decided to ignore that as potential noise. So either the phone or the truck "Give up" on that connection, and you have to cycle BT on the phone to force a "go look for your pairs" to fix it.

I'm not a software guy, so that's all conjecture on my part, but it's where my heads at currently.

Not sure - but fwiw, mine sits in a detached garage pretty far from my phone. But it does seem like a slow wake up issue

This happens to me multiple times per week. Usually it's when the truck is asleep. Along with having to take my phone out of my pocket to get the door handles to open about 70% of the time, this makes my R1T the worst Zombie Apocalypse getaway car ever.

I had something similar a month or so ago that had been persistent for a bit. Coincidentally I was unable to update to the last update (.03). Dropped it off at the shop and it was determined that a key sensor in the door went bad. They replaced it and all was normal again.
