Back in January 2024 Rivian added to their maintenance schedule a "Comprehensive Inspection" (in addition to tire rotation) at 22,500 miles. See
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/rivian-recommended-maintenance-schedule.23202/
A description of the items to be checked was posted on the Rivian website:
https://web.archive.org/web/2024011...t-is-the-maintenance-schedule-for-r1-vehicles
And the 22,500 mile Comprehensive Inspection was also listed in the app when you looked under "Vehicle Health".

Someone posted a checklist for this inspection in the forum a few months back, showing the exact things checked by the service center:
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...-at-a-service-center.34512/page-2#post-637776

As recently as last month when I scheduled my 22,500 service, this was still showing up in the app.

But now that option is gone, and it is no longer listed in either the app or the web site. I think this disappearance from the app may have coincided with the rollout of 2.16.0 last week? The web site no longer lists the Comprehensive Inspection at 22,500 miles:
https://rivian.com/support/article/what-is-the-maintenance-schedule-for-r1-vehicles

Does anyone have any further information about this? It seems like now they don't want you to check the 12V batteries or the undercarriage for missing bolts, and you don't need to replace the cabin air filter or check the tie rods or CV joint boots, no more checking the safety systems (ADAS and AVAS), brake lines, half shafts, no more checking the A/C for leaks, etc. Most of these things that are checked are things I can do myself, like verifying all the external signals work and there are no chips in the windshield. But things like coolant level or problems with the air suspension? I would like to pay to have these checked periodically. And the Jiffy Lubes of this world aren't going to be able to do that ...

When I called about 2 months back, they had 2 options. A 7500 mile inspection and a more comprehensive inspection. Try calling them if you want a comprehensive inspection.

Huh. I just had my 22,500 mile service two weeks ago. I hope 2.16.0 didn't make it unnecessary! (I did need my tire rotation done either way.)

I'd just keep doing the service every 7,500 miles. It's good peace of mind.

Yeah, hell no, wasting hundreds of dollars looking at a vehicle that doesn't need to be looked at every 7500 miles is really ridiculous. Part of owning an EV is getting off that stupid maintenance treadmill. We've very well proven this with the longevity and lack of maintenance with Tesla.

Early days with Tesla they also had routine inspections but they dropped them.
EVs Don't really need them.

I had mine last week. I’m just under 24k and opted for the complete inspection. I have sliders and gave me a discount ($200). all checked out fine. will happily do another inspection around 50k.

I’ve had issues caught by these before. I’d rather be proactive than stranded somewhere. It’s well worth the $$ to me.

Until there is an issue you don’t catch early and, because you didn’t follow the maintenance schedule, you don’t get a warranty fix.

No, you don't have the option. You are due for your third 7,500 mile service, which is tire rotation plus multi-point inspection. The 22,500 mile service was an additional service performed only at 22,500 miles, and consisted of the standard 7,500 mile service plus an additional comprehensive inspection.

Normal 7,500 mile service costs $60. The 22,500 mile service was an additional $140 on top of that.

It's not about paying for it or doing it yourself, it's about having a published schedule of what should be done periodically. Then we could all decide for ourselves whether we want to do it and who we want to perform the maintenance.
