I received the iKamper Skycamp 3.0 mini - along with the iKamper awning attachment this week. I just did a quick setup test in the driveway and believe with the R1T in the highest setting, it will have enough height to utilize the attached awning - and still get positive drainage away from the tent/truck. The iKamper poles that come with the awning are adjustable which helps with the height adjustment, especially on uneven terrain.

I still need to field test where I can stake everything down properly, but initial observation looks promising.

What made you choose the glossy version vs the matte version for the exterior shell? Any pros / cons now that you’ve owned yours. I definitely like the ikamper mini for Rivian, seems like a perfect fit.

Glossy shell better matches their wheels? Just a guess.

I actually screwed up…meant to order the Rocky Mountain Black but erred on the online order form. After getting the glossy finish, it actually matches the glossy roof spoiler really well (and black wheels - thanks ads) - looks like a factory match. I’m afraid it’s going to show every scratch but they ship some South Korean wax with it to help protect the finish. We shall see how well it holds up.

That was my concern too the long term wear / upkeep but it definitely looks great new. Nice to know it matches the stock gloss spoiler and wheels. If you don’t mind posting pics of it closed up with the truck it would be great to see the whole package so to speak. Thanks for the share

Thanks for the pics. The iKamper looks great, love the color and wheel combo too! I think I saw another post about this, but did you ever try to mount it in reverse so the teardrop shape tapers towards the back? Are you aware of any issue with doing it that way?

You should be able to reverse it - as long as you're mounting on the truck bed rails in lieu of the roof. iKamper puts a windblock piece of trim on the leading edge that is designed to prevent uplift wind forces (incurred while driving at high speeds) from penetrating the shell opening seam. They advise against reversing the orientation for this reason, but that should be a moot point if the truck cab is blocking the wind.

Sorry last question, have you had any issues with condensation inside? If so are you using a specific condensation mat under the mattress, or just keeping some windows open for circulation? Thanks!

I can't answer this one yet... haven't field tested it. The 3.0 comes with foam mattress that has reflective liner on bottom side of it that is supposed to help prevent condensation. My plan is to place inflatable sleeping mattress on top of that foam. We'll see how well that system works...

The Limestone on Dark 20s looks so good!

Skycamp Mini is looking nice, too. Happy accident with matching gloss finish. You may change some minds from the matte / "rocky" finish.

Hi. What do the clamps look like and do they damage the cross bars?

The clamps look kind of like a C shape with rubber in the middle, so they do not damage the bars. They dont fit perfectly on the bars, and if you are doing it over the bed you will have one clamp around the thicker part of the bar and the other clamp around the thinner extended part of the bar.

Because of the locking nuts it seems like it has a good firm grab on the bars, and i havent noticed it rattling around or anything at all.

Overall seems solid

Thank you! That is very helpful information.

Ground vs bed vs roof top , cost vs convenience vs comfort.

For now I am going roof top.

You show off. I still have mine in the garage. Hoping to use it - but with rain and the weather, it may be March....
Thing appears to be well built.
Any tips of issues you had mounting it?
Are you going to Amazon a rear brake light for the tent back, LOL
Careful with the sliders it comes with, if your bolts arent alligned correctly you can easily strip the slider while tightening the nuts since it is aluminum and the bolt is hardened steel

Anyone have experience with the tuff stuff alpha II?
I have one. like it, but not sure how to mount it to the Rivian crossbars yet as I dont have my R1S yet. wonder if the iKamper 2.0 or 3.0 would work.

Just ordered the same with 25% Black Friday Off Coupon.... seems like great price compared to the ICamper. How has it been holding up? Any trouble installing it? I was thinking about installing it on the crossbars but lift the tent including crossbars in garage to ceiling as I dont want to drive around with RTT if I dont plan to use it for weeks.
I also have the Ironman and generally like it, especially for the price. I added my own “security” nuts for added peace of mind. My two main complaints are: 1/the included ~1” mattress is not comfortable enough to me so I bring a mattress topper with me (this affects the close down though), and 2/the close down velco straps are a really weak way of cinching down the tent and the side that opens always looks 1-2” higher (non-level). It’s a great, easy-open and easy-close hard-shell tent though.
