Dropped off the S for troubleshooting on the suspension system. Some observations

1. The assembly line is nowhere as active as it was when I last visited about a year ago. Dropped off the car same time on a Friday as I did last time.
2. They still have in-factory pick-up and I assume the factory tour. It seemed a bit more formal and better organized then when I did my picked up almost 2 years ago.
3. Across the street there was a lot of activity with addition to the main plant.
4. Seems they had few (or maybe no Rivian loaners). They gave me a Zipcar (Bolt EV) as a loaner and shared their Rivian loaners where shipped out to busier service centers. outside of Normal. I guess they were admitting their service center isn't getting the same amount of traffic as other SCs.

As our S was the family car and we can not "squeeze in" like we used to, wife joked if all of us need to go somewhere we'll need to take two cars now until we get the S back.

Maybe the back logged of R1S has caught up to demand. The R2 can't come at a better time for them.

Must just be related to when you dropped off your S. I was there last week.

1. Line looked same as other times I've been there. Did see that the employee parking lot is now storage for R1S and T. New lot was made for employee parking closer to plant. No need for shuttle now. A lot of vehicles sitting there. Vans too.
2. They have demo rides.
3. Construction is for new SC. Once completed will not need to drop off at plant. Plant has construction happening on back for new R2 line as well.
4. Had an S as loaner. Again, must be timing thing.

The backlog went a while back.

My T is at a SC now (not Normal though) and when I dropped it off they had no Rivian loaners. I asked about that since last time I took it to a different SC and they had tons. The advisor told me that they are too new of a SC and Rivian hasn’t supplied them any yet. Said if I went to an older SC they have them but the new ones don’t. Not sure if that is accurate but that is what they told me.
got a Land Rover Discovery. Not a fan at all. Can’t wait to pick my truck back up tomorrow.
