There’s a big difference here, compared to a car going to a dealer. normally, of course you don’t pay or do registration etc etc until the handover happens. Car gets crunched in the way there? Odds are you don’t hear about it. Just that it’s gonna be late, it’s “stuck at the terminal”.
That plus in the US most of the dealer cars come out of their inventory, they have already been received, prepped, and put in stock. Any issues would already be dealt with.

By a short time period, and Ford did it in less time, with more reservations, and more importantly - higher profit per unit. To your second point - and you think that's good? Other manufacturers can retool a plant for less $$ and they wouldn't build it in a state that doesn't allow them to sell in that state...

First of all - I'm not a fanboy or have any significant opinion one way or another about RJ himself. I care way more about their senior executive teams who have to do the real work.

I'm just presenting all the incredibly obvious reasons why it's insane to suggest they would replace him right now.

As long as you are trying to compare Rivian to Ford and other manufacturers you miss what Wall Street sees in Rivian's story.

Outright cancelling deliveries as they have been tells me they don’t have the capacity to deal with even small damage issues.

It's funny to me that a lot of posters seem to think Rivian has to figure this out. Wrong. Vehicle logistics has been figured out for years. They needed/ and maybe still need experts with experience in this field. Nothing new here other than the truck in general but even then a lot of that isn't new. Once a completed vehicle rolls off the line...its joins the other 9 million vehicles using a proven process across the US at other locations ...but Rivian keeps stumbling...

Who is the VP of logistics and their pedigree?

So you are predicting that because the stock price has fallen, Rivian is going to replace the CEO? When do you think this will happen? What will trigger it? What price point? (since that's the metric you are using)

This is getting stupid. I’m so glad I sold the stock on the second day of trading at 120 and never looked back. At this point they deserve to be trading below a 20 billion market cap. I’m thinking a new CEO might be in order.
Totally agree. I actually saw RJ at the service center keying your truck and slinking away cackling like the Hamburglar.

To put the devil's advocate position aside for a minute, there's not a Co on this planet ATT that I don't have a greater desire to see succeed than Rivian.

I have a HUGE dislike of the big 3, but they have mastered a lot that Rivian could learn from, and in return the big 3 could learn from Rivian.

I guess I'm a huge critic right now because they should be better, and voices of dissent sometimes have an impact vs platitudes.

I think you've lost it. I never said CEO needed replacing...but wall street and others have learned the true value of Rivian vs hyped Rivian.

Nope - My response was to someone suggesting that RJ should be removed as CEO. I responded with the obvious reasons why that will never happen. Simple scroll up to see what you are responding too would help.

Reading through some of these threads makes me chuckle.

You do not need to be a fanboy but certainly should have faith in the company or simply walk away. I can never understand why anyone would be in line to purchase a $75k truck from a startup thinking they are on the verge of collapse.

I also cannot under stand how someone thinks a company with 17 billion in cash as well as all of their other tangible assets should have a market cap below 20 billion. The 100k EDV and 90k R1 preorders have a retail north of 11 Billion, even if they only converted 50% into actual sales it pays for the Georgia plant.

Concept of gross vs net applies - those 90k LE orders are sold below cost. Remember 1 Mar. So no they don't pay for the GA plant.

Do I need to do my “go to literally any forum for any car and search the word issue and brand new car and show you the thousands of results” routine for you? By your logic, software is done by millions of companies, so when releasing new software, it should be bug free and without logistics issues. LOL I would love to live in that world.

Wall street also learned the true value of all unprofitable growth stocks at the same time. Quite a coincidence.

Oh, also Tesla 1,100 to 720.

Also Ford down 50%.

VW down 30%

Just sayin that there might be more at play here...

no, it’s not new. There is an obstacle compared to most every other manufacturer though - since all of rivian’s deliveries are “just in time”, there is no buffer to spend time on repairs the customer wouldn’t find out about in a conventional model.

They could have the greatest logistician in the world running vehicle shipping(I have no idea who their “vp of logistics” is - I don’t work there) but it‘s moot if the root cause is larger carriers aren’t interested in their small volume or for whatever reason, or EOL checks are not adequately catching defects.

haven’t read or seen much about shipping by rail, which is much less prone to damage than open transport by road. Suspect there isn’t the volume yet.
