Cool, I only had the option given to me Tuesday night with a Thursday pick up, I did it Tuesday night and my guide called me to say in the morning he canceled it didn't work and best to bring in a certified cheque which I did and it was seamless. Remy was my guide.
Did you get green or black plates? I asked and they were not sure which was going to come. They are green plate certified.

My guide told me a few days ago he didn’t think the green plates would be allowed for the R1T in Ontario at this point. Apparently over the weight limit but the r1s was ok.

People keep saying that but it's on the list of eligible vehicles. It seems the average service Ontario employee can't read. Also FYI the R1S is heavier than the R1T lol

Hopefully I get a green plate or I go to the MTO and argue to get a new set later.

Here's the list of eligibility

The wording specifically says "Commercial vehicles over 3000kg".

Although the R1T does weight over 3000kg. The definition of a commercial vehicle according to the MTO is here: https://www.ontario.ca/page/commercial-vehicle-operators-registration-cvor

A commercial vehicle is defined as.

"a commercial motor vehicle is a vehicle plated in Ontario, Mexico, or the U.S. such as:

trucks with a gross weight or registered gross weight over 4,500 kg
buses with a seating capacity of 10 or more passengers
tow trucks – regardless of gross weight or registered gross weight"

The R1T does not have a GVW or registered GVW over 4500kg nor is it a bus or tow truck.

Regardless I believe the wording at the top of the page is meant to be informational and the list at the bottom of the page supercedes the definitions above.

We picked up our LG R1S in Vaughan on Saturday, we got green plates without asking . Unbelievable vehicle, the hype is real!
Yes for some strange reason they are giving green plates to the S and black to the T. Yet claim weight when the S is heavier oh well. C'est la vie. Not gonna lose sleep over it.

In fact I hope to sleep really well tonight and tomorrow in anticipation of my pick up haha

Is it just me or is anyone else struggling to get a hold of their "guide"? Still having website payment issue... No response.. and a week ago the guide said that the truck would be available in the next couple days and has not responded since.

3+ years of waiting and its very disappointing to have such mediocre service. :facepalm:

I just kept emailing the guide with no response and calling the main customer service line. They have a direct line to the guide and the lead guide

Hmmm my guide sent an email day 1 with a scheduling link and if I need to talk to him I just book a time.

I was going to say the same thing. I have had a hard time getting in touch with my guide or guides, but I couldn't imagine the workload they have right now. I actually got a call for Chris last Friday Dec 22 at 7:30pm trying to nail down the details of my sale. And just the fact that the BC crew is out here in Ontario over Christmas just shows what kind of staff they have. The next week or 2 will probably be chaos until they get their deliveries settled and then I would imagine things will get better. That's what I'm hoping for anyways.

I had a difficult time getting a hold of guide but continued through all the steps. Online payment wouldn’t work for me so I went with a bank draft. They didn’t require it to be mailed in like app says but allowed me to up load picture and bring it in today when I picked up my RIS. Lots of vehicles in the lot. I was the only pick up today they said. Seems like they have intentionally kept numbers lows for first week and are ramping up for 17 pick ups this Friday and increasing from there. They are still training with crew from BC and also have a team from Calgary in Toronto to train at same time.

After a 4 year wait I found it very hard to be patient but if you have started the process I am sure your delivery is right around the corner.

Yeah, I'm scheduled for pick up tomorrow and there have been some minor hiccups. Out of the blue I got a text with a delivery date that hadn't been discussed, and email responses are delayed. I chalk it up to normal growing pains as they expand to Ontario.

With that said, my guide and lead "coordinator" for delivery have been fantastic when they call/email back. They're friendly and knowledgeable, and have been transparent and apologetic about the issues (delivery schedule was being handled out of the US to help alleviate the volume on the Ontario team but that caused some disconnect, and they are swamped by the volume of emails). The good news is that they call you directly 3 days before scheduled delivery to iron out any steps that haven't been completed yet.

My advice is hang in there - you've waited this long and are one of the first deliveries in a new region / SC. The reality is that you're an early adopter of a start up, there are going to be issues. I've been there with Tesla, and so I sort of expected it here.

There is a location in Vaughan, and have been by there a few times. However, I don't know how open they are for walk-ins at the moment, they are trying to deliver and train staff at the same time for End of Year in a public company. I just spoke with mine for a delivery in 2 days as a confirmation that everything is going ahead. YAY!

In anycase I would think it would be easier in the new year to access people at the dealership for walkthroughs.
