Wednesday’s OTA Update (aka R1 Gen 2 Launch) seems to have done absolutely nothing to my Gen 1 R1S. Just completed my first road trip since the update, and, try as I might, I could notice no degradation whatsoever. My Rivian was just as fabulous as it was on Tuesday’s road trip, before the update. Contrary to recent reports:
  • My ride was smooth (despite being on suspension that is unacceptably poor)
  • My audio was fine (despite being on the non-Meridian system)
  • All four motors purred along smoothly (despite being Bosch ones that aren’t even oil-cooled)
  • My ambient lighting was totally inoffensive (despite not being particularly customizable)
  • Performance was quite acceptable (despite not even having 1000 HP)
  • Wheels rolled along quite satisfactorily and efficiently (despite being the despised 21” variety)
  • Control systems all worked fine (despite having 17 ECUs connected by more than a mile of excess cabling)
  • I could see the Golden Gate Bridge through my roof (despite it being made of monochromatic glass)
I must be missing something.

So what you are saying....contrary to many posts....your truck isn't obsolete and only respectable thing is to send it to crusher? Hahaha! I am in same boat.....mine seems to do all the things I want it to do still as the best vehicle I have ever been in or owned. I even find the vampire drain a complete non-issue I don't even pay the slightest attention to. (Lie....last time it sat at airport for 2 weeks I checked in on it to see a consistent 1% loss in winter....so I was just fine with that...otherwise....wouldn't even notice).

Would I take a new Quad? Yes. Am I going to spend $60k or so and my truck....not likely at least for a while....

You need to look more closely. SOMETHING must have gotten much worse since Thursday.

But, but, but....... zero to 60 in 2.5 for only a lot more money. I see it as nickle and dimming, no camp speaker, no bed outlet all extra, CRAZY.
